Hey, sailors.

I find myself not using swipe from bottom at all. And when i need to open new app, i just swipe from side and then flick up.

So i was wandering, if anyone actually use that action to open the app drawer?

I added the two alternatives I know of, so people can vote on what they use. I can't vote on my own alternatives, but I can say I swipe and flick (including eventuall scrolling, when I have more than 9 covers).

Yes, I do. All the time. (And this question looks familiar but I cannot be bothered to look for its older sister.)

@virgi26 how can i open apps by "swipe from side and then flick up"? (i really dont understand what this is describing)

i dont know any other way of opening apps than swipe from bottom to access the app grid. please explain

"Swipe from side" to get to the home screen, then "flick up" to open the app drawer.

"Slide from bottom" to bring up the app drawer now works in any screen, including inside a running app.

@pichlo thanks for clarifying - so swipe from side is just to go to homescreen... and i didnt even know that on homescreen you only need to "flick up" to get to the app drawer :)

This. Somehow I had no problems whatsoever with changing my "habits".

And I find it the best change in SFOS 2.0.

I have placed my 3 most used apps in bottom row of first page, and i can start them all very quickly. Just swipe from bottom up, tap, swipe again, tap... starting 3 apps takes just a few secs.

kimmoli, same here ;)

Sometimes I use it for switching between apps, not going back to home!

This. But it's mostly caused by habit.

Yes, habit. I never remember I could just swipe from the bottom.

ssahla ( 2015-10-19 16:24:33 +0300 )edit

Mostly habit here as well. Swiping from the bottom is quicker, but at the same time it's a bit more ergonomic for me to swipe and flick because I don't have to stretch my thumb to reach bottom edge of the screen.

LOL yes, I have to switch bewteen my Jolla and a Samsung (provided by my employer), too... And I constantly find myself using Sailfish-gestures on Android. (Trying to use them, that is.) Funny enough I never try to do things the Android way on the Jolla phone. ;)

Yes, I use swipe from the bottom... to check notifications. I decided to stay with Sailfish 1 because it has a user interface designed for a mobile phone and not for a tablet.

Ah, forgot about the SfOS 1 alternative. Even though I, myself, is one of those who downgraded. :)

No, sorry, the question is clear and my answer is clear. A comment is a comment, I have an answer: I use swipe from bottom.

gabriel ( 2015-10-21 11:57:29 +0300 )edit

The reason for the question is not to collect answers, but to vote for different alternatives. Therefore your answer is counterproductive and would be better as a vote on the corresponding alternative. See https://together.jolla.com/question/16697/together-howto-polling-in-together/?answer=16716#post-id-16716

Note that the alternatives are wikis, hence the user wont get karma, so there's no karmafishing involved.

Mohjive ( 2015-10-21 12:01:47 +0300 )edit

So, if this is a poll, where is the poll tag?
