Jolla not receiving and/or sending SMS
Hello Sailors,
my girlfriend and me have both a Jolla phone. We have the problem that some SMS's get lost.
It started some months ago, when approx. one SMS a month got lost. Now it is so, that sometimes multiple SMS on the same day get lost. As far as I can tell, only SMS (mostly larger ones) my GF sends to me get lost. A few weeks ago, my GF enabled the option to receive delivery reports. All SMS are marked as "send" after a few seconds, but my Jolla never received them.
Is there a way to debug this?
First I would like to know which one of both Jollas is the problematic one: Does my Jolla "swallow" the SMS or does the Jolla of my GF have problems sending the SMS...
Meanwhile my GF sends a "over and out"-SMS after every larger SMS she writes to me. This has proven multiple times, that my Jolla did not receive a SMS.
Just today we got the following conversation:
GF: "over and out"
ME: "nothing received..."
GF: "now?"
ME: "nope"
GF: "now?!?!?!"
ME: "send it through WhatsApp..."
(GF sends the message through WhatsApp)
ME: "Now I try to send this message to you..."
ME: (copies SMS, sends it to GF)
ME: "received?"
GF: "yes... now I try again..."
Outcome: I received the message after the 4th time she tried to send it to me... This problem is very frustrating because you never know, if the SMS got received or not, because they all get marked as "sent"...
I really hope, someone can help us to resolve this problem...
Thank you!
Edit: We both have the same operator (Telekom.de)
There are already some reports regarding different issues of the SMS engine, so have a look at them:

Also have a look at the BTRFS issue and check if you are fine with your metadata space: https://together.jolla.com/question/30822/root-and-home-disks-full-and-causing-various-problems/

I would try to open the database located in ~/.local/share/commhistory/commhistory.db manually. Copy this thing (!) to your desktop computer or elsewhere and use a sqlite managing application. (In Ubuntu I use SQLiteman, but there are some similar programs for windows.) The content is in "Main|Tabellen|Events", you will find the whole communication protocol there, including content and metadata. Try to find the lost SMS there, or some irregularities, so you will know that.
Once you have stored this database and know you can access your data, you may delete this file on the phone and reboot. The (empty) database will be recreated immediately. If the old database was damaged, this will solve the problem. - But seems there's no way back, it's not possible to simply overwrite the new file with the old one to have your old SMS reappearing in the phone. You might use the regular backup mechanisms for doing so. (Edit: you can still do it, I just tested it. Had to delete the two other files in this folder, too. After a reboot the old messages reappered. But that's not the official way to handle these things, I guess...)
If then there are still lost messages, I have no idea anymore....

@Robomike - Thank you, I loaded the database file using SCP and checked it's contents, but the entries are the same as described above (conversation). So I think, that my Jolla really does not receive the messages, or get's an error while receiving them and is not able to write them into the database. I think the only way to find the cause is to write a script, which sends many SMS one after another and log what is happening on both Jollas :/
