SFOS in the USA?

Hello! I've been following Sailfish since the first Jolla Phone came out, and have been overjoyed about how Sailfish has grown over the years. However, since then, I have been waiting for a phone that will work in the US. Very patiently... I'm wondering why there's STILL nothing available yet.

And I don't mean 3G support for a few frequencies. ALL of the following bands would be required:

3G: 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, 10

4G LTE: 2, 4, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 41

These are the bands I'd say would be required for the phone. This includes AT&T and T-Mobile's bands (which are usually the only ones supported) as well as the critical Verizon bands that are ignored by most manufacturers, despite Verizon being the US's largest service provider. It also includes Sprint's bands which I didn't really want to include as they are not used by anyone else. These were all found from this site.

On a related note: Why not just swap out the antenna for the Jolla C? I'd be willing to buy it despite it's lower specs if it was actually able to work here. I, surely like many of my fellow Americans, desperately want to use Sailfish, but simply don't have the money to blow on a phone that we can't even use.

For the time been, one plus x is the best SFOS implementation.

I am using the Jolla1 in the US since it got released. An yes, 2G sucks. There is also a Jolla C on the way to me via Europe. From what I can tell, the SoC in the C should support 3G and 4G frequencies in the US, at least it is marketed this way by Qualcomm. I'll figure out whether or not that is true in a week or so...

Okay, awesome! I'd be very curious to see if it will work. I still really hope they release a US version that supports Verizon's bands... If it works, feel free to let me know! Good luck! Thank you very much!

Seeing the trouble Jolla has with LTE on Jolla C I wouldn't be too optimistic, hopefully I'm wrong and not too harsh with Jolla here.

Why read SoC specs and not phone specs? The ability to support certain bands doesn't mean it can support them all at the same time with good results. I.e antenna and/or rf frontend is often a limiting factor.

@attah, according to the intex specs, at least all the major 2G bands are supported. And looks like 3G & 4G will not work at all in the US.

So, update: the C made it to me today. It is a very nice device, well made from what I can tell. Now to the negatives: not even 2g works at the moment (this is w/ the 2.0.2.45 OS and a T-mobile reseller SIM). Both this OS version and the SIM work on my Jolla1 in 2g.

I am hoping that 2g will at least work eventually (updating to 48 ATM)...

UPDATE: it now works (on 2.0.3). However, the main bug was a wrong setting of the data connection from IP to Dual, I think. Still only 2g, unfortunately. Waiting for a device w/ official SF support and US bands....

@hoschi since the US is not officially supported, it's not really a bug (unfortunately...). Also: where would I report?

I was in USA this April with my Jolla 1. While my Russian SIM-card was installed there were no calls, to text, no data. With T-Mobile SIM-card only calls and texting were available.

I have a Jolla C in Canada. fully work on 3g and only vocal on 4g in some area.
