Failure to change email account settings

I have changed the password for my IMAP/SMTP account. After updating this in settings - accounts - (an e-mail account) - server settings, I found no way to commit the changes. I have finally used devel-su to update /home/nemo/.config/signond/signon-secrets.db directly, but it should not be that hard ;) This is on a Jolla phone with the current OS 2.0.2.48.

I cannot exactly follow what you have done but if you opened the accounts page for a specific account, in the pulley menu there is the choice "Update sign-in credentials", this opens a page where you can enter and accept a new password....

I have everything in German, so the English labels might differ. I have an "E-Mail" account (last item in the list when adding a new account). The pulley menu offers "Server Settings" besides "Delete Account" and "Synchronize". On the server settings page there is no way to accept the changes. At least I can't find it! A swipe to the left takes me back, but there is no swipe to the right to accept as would be the usual method.

Now I understand what you have done and indeed there is no way to update the password in the general e-mail account settings and accept it (like it is possible for the specific e-mail settings (I checked Yahoo! mail settings)). (In fact: it is possible to change the password and swipe back (with email app not running). When you open the server settings again you see the password is changed. But the account is still synchronized, so it looks like the accountinformation is not really saved). The easiest way to change the settings would be to delete the account and add the account again. When you have entered the email, password combination and accepted the page, the server settings will be retreived and you have the new account with the updated password. (Don't ask me why it works this way, your request seems a logical use case (update account information in stead of delete and recreate the account)).
