Hello,

I apologize in advance since it's not really a question, but a way to hear your opinion about a certain topic, which is TRI's latest email.

They're planning on releasing a mind-blowing product somewhere next year titled Turing Phone Cadenza. I'm not even sure they released their first phone out of pre-order stage.

The interesting thing here is that they announced usage of Swordfish OS, which is stated to be based on Sailfish OS. I wonder how will that work out for them and Jolla. Sounds like all of the patches and new features will have to be backported into Swordfish. Let's hope that Jolla won't have to waste human-resources on this. Jolla also appears to have a new licensing system, so instead of using super apps they'll either demand a certain cut from each device sold, or perhaps TRI have bought the Sailfish sources?

I know that this post really serves no purpose, I'm just interested in others' opinions.

P.S you can see the email here http://us11.campaign-archive2.com/?u=1d34480bd339567cb5c193ac8&id=5520945a2e&e=10b5acf899

God! It's seems like someone with an MBA went over all the latest tech buzzwords and included it in the press release! All in all, I'd be glad for Jolla if this company does launch their product successfully.

it must be fake - hw spec stated there is purely insane...

not to mention Swordfish OS - Sailfish doesn't really need anything but a fork...

What kind of drugs are they sniffing. I bet that will make them more money than mobile phones. They clearly have the good stuff.

This is unbeliable ! Where I can send my money?

Seriously I really hope the pre orderers of the turing phone will get what was promised or their money back. Sadly instead of that we propapbly get just a new hoax...

"IF its true"

image description

what will be the price for this mobile server cluster? 8000, 9000, >10k€?

IMHO: TRI should at first release it´s first phone, work on there stability, processes, development etc. before announcing such a fairytail castle.

I doubt that they have the manpower, knowlege, capital and all other resources to realize such a projekt at such a time.

Jolla should be carefully not to damage it´s own reputation on such a partnership, because the risk of another fail is astronomic.

If something sound to good to be true, it's most likely some scam by a conman. And this sheet smells fishy as 100tons of rotten fish.

Btw. where is TRI registered? Nigeria?

spec is amazing indeed! possible in some couple of years, but 2017.... how will finance them? bill gates? putin? or obama? some high rich vpi people? if yes, then it is possible.

@evo3de don't be so scary for jolla. here that is their product with other name. that can't make a problem for jolla if jolla make their job good. They build their upon it, they know the risk, and if something goes wrong but not by jolla. then the eyes wil still stare on them and not to jolla. that's why it is important for jolla that is concretely written with "based on sailfish". That is a little advertisement for jolla, and disengage jolla for any problem from the extern layer of software from tri (made probably from jolla too in contract from tri)..

their tripple power source concept seems "very" realistic....

Somebody hacked their site and started publishing this junk, or do they really expect somebody will believe this crap?

Giacomo Di Giacomo ( 2016-09-07 10:28:25 +0300 )edit

normally at this stage of announcement that should be a prototype in forge.
I would be interested on the answer of the question if they have one.....
if no, then this kind of announcement is stupid.

For the moment, assuming they believe they can put that together, what do you expect the list price to be... that's going to be in excess of $3000 (four) SIM-free, right?

I suppose it makes sense to aim as high as possible; this scheme certainly feels like it is targeted against the matket segment that has mord money than clues :) :)

And if they can find 50 of them, that could help cashflow a lot and give us more devices!

haha I agree to 1 and a half. the answer wasn't the best, but... I understand his point. what will Jolla do first?! add more basic features or "pimp" the OS to handle such specs... (if ever) :)
