Hello I just got my Intex Aqua Fish. Unfortunately happened that I removed the Advisory app by ‘pkcon remove sailfish-tutorial’ as adviced in https://together.jolla.com/question/33267/how-to-uninstall-tutorial-app/ . Ater that I lost most of settings in settings app. So I tried reboot to fix the problem.

The phone is now bricked ha ha…Boot gets stuck to bootsplash screen. In fastboot mode I telnet is not working. The phone asks to telnet 10.42.66.66 but says that network is unreachableor cannot connect (timeout)

Is there anything to make it work again? Any more default IPs?

fastboot mode is the wrong mode iirc, you need to press "the other" volume button while you boot and the display then reads how to connect to it - anything else == wrong mode!

EDIT: from my howto for permanent device-lock https://together.jolla.com/question/91297/how-to-recover-from-permanent-device-lock/

Enter recovery-mode for JollaC it is VolUp+PwrBtn held while device is off, display should show RECOVERY...

I did the exact same thing and it removed most of the stuff. I also rebooted thinking it would atleast fix few things but it went on a bootloop. So I pressed the volume up and power button to enter the fastboot mode. I have linux mint as dual boot in my laptop. so connected to linux mint, opened terminal.. sudo.... telnet.... reset. as easy as that. I dont know about windows though. I followed a guide posted here with detailed instructions. Search 'reset jolla from fastboot'

Thanks for reply. Maybe I still have hope with this. But yes I held Vol Up + Powerbutton. Im sorry if that is not fastbootmode. The phone asks me to connect USB cable and telnet 10.42.66.66 byt cannot connect. I have tried that many many times with no effect. I let the phone rest overnight but that did not help. I think its no matter if you do it as superuser or without su.

I wonder if the IP is correct. So if theres other default IP please let me know.

With Jolla telnet worked fine.

You must connect to that IP over a usb cable. That is set up automatically in Linux, but for Windows you'll have to manually install the network driver before you can connect to that IP. Instructions on how to do that are on this forum somewhere, or maybe on the Jolla Care site.

Hi Andy

Yes Im quite aware of howto telnet Jollaphone and now Intex.I use cable and Linux that comes with Telnet installed. I know the basics of using commandline so thats not a problem.

I have read the Jolla advisory howto reset my phone with telnet. Anyway there is no help to my problem. There still is a chance that my IP is not that 10.42.66.66 and thats why i cannot establish the connection. So if theres other "default" IP to please let me know

Anyway there is a Jolla service in Helsinki so I hope they have a solution.

Thanks HP

@hepto, check that your computer gets the IP adress correctly;

  1. go through the procedure up to the point where you would do "telnet 10.42.66.66"
  2. instead, give command "ifconfig -a"
  3. check from the list that you have an IP address assigned to usb interface on same subnet as you try to telnet to, something beginning with "10.42"
  4. if so, then test the destination address with "ping 10.42.66.66"
  5. if not, give command "dmesg" and check what does it say there regarding plugging in USB devices and if there is anything about NDIS devices. (it is a very long listing, and the thing you are looking for is probably in the very end)

Detailed instructions are linked in my answer or here, with linux: if you are using something like a networkmanager you probably need to enable the connection from GUI

Hello juiceme

Ok I did /sbin/ifconfig -a and no IP for that interface as you can see. (I canged the mac so noone can see the real)

usb0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr B1:F1:F1:C1:71:C1
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:384 (384.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

dmesg shows that Intex Aqua is present. I send the part of list:

set up an ip address via ifconfig usb0 10.42.66.65 up, a different one than your jolla, and try again
