Mail client alternatives

Since the e-mail (and callender) apps are somewhat limiting in their options, I was wondering if some of you use alternative mailclients and if so, could you share your experiences? - Does syncing of your mailaccounts work - Do the mailclients allow you to add new contacts or retrieve contacts from your phone? - Do you get notifications in the event center?

Mailapps I'm currently looking at are (all android): - Outlook(doesn't seem to sync unless I have the app open in front of me) - Blackberry Hub - K9

Yes Blackberry did release an Android version of the Blackberry Hub. It works quite well and supports almost all features of the BBOS 10 version.

Where did you find the Blackberry Hub apk? Looking for it I found only the apk for Android 5.0

I haven't found the Hub apk other than in the Google play store.

The problem is not to find an alternative. Problem is that Jolla must understand that, nowadays, email is probably the most important stuff to consider in the smartphone world. So, they have to improve their email client a lot.

Yes you are right. They must work on basic functionality like email, chat, contact, file sharing etc.

@avyajolla, i partially agree with you. However, Jolla must first get the basic stuff right.. for which people carry phones - calling. After using Aurajoki for a couple of weeks, i can say its still missing options like comprehensive call history (i cannot tell the date/time when i may have received the last 2-3 calls from a given number in call history), which sim did a call come on - SIM1 or SIM2, a decent bluetooth driver for my bluetooth headset.. and that may just be the beginning. Jolla must roll out these fast enough

I am using android app "Nine" by developer '9Folders Inc' on my Intex Aqua Fish for my activesync account. Notifications works well. I can add contacts from phone address book as mail recipients. At least for now it seems completely free (not a limited trial like a few other mail clients.. e,g, Touchdown)

thanx for the tip. Seems that Nine currently only works with exchange accounts. So no gmail unfortunately.

Well I have tried Outlook and Boxer so far and while both seem to work somewhat, I don't get a notification sound nor does the notification LED light up when new messages arrive.

@Andrik, i thought you are interested in activesync account.. for most others, i think, the native client works well
