Hello

i currently try to update my jp1 phone with the new 2.0.4.14 Version since 3 hours.
The process is blocked at the beginning of the backup.
Nothing happened, and nothing goes forward.
I notice that the device works still in underground. Some notification appears if i get a mail.
But i can't go back, i can't interrupt the process, i can lock and unlock it, but i can't use any functions of it.
My phone is currently not usable as phone, and it is spared from this process which don't go forwards.
I have just the black screen with the Message "veuillez patienter pendant la sauvegarde du contenu" => "Please wait during the data backup". A light faded circle is under it, and wait to be full (it still fully empty)
I'm able to make screenshot during it, and open it through mtp...

What am i able to do for stopping it without bricking the system?
Want to pull the power button a long time.

Why it is not possible to interrupt it at this stage?
Normally if the Update process has not started, it should be possible to interrupt it, by each steps before the last one, with a cancel button. not?

After 4 hours waiting i decided to power it down.
By restart the device, i could ask for update again but this time was the optimization not available.
And i did the update. Now seems to work.

Next time provide calming pills or make a stable update process with the possibility to breach every possible steps.!!
THX

I had the same behaviour. After 30 minutes it stopped by itself and goes back to homescreen. Next I made a backup from settingspage and it worked well.

We recommend taking a backup of your data before seeking for OS update. This is because the backup option in the Sailfish OS update dialog tends to stall in some cases (after which the device must be rebooted). Backup works okay if initiated from Settings > Backup.

Yes but... (i hate a "yes, but...") according to it, why there no possibility the breach it? why there is no cancel button at this step of the process?
should i make a specific thread for this? "please add button for each update steps of the process"?

I think in this case the 'Cancel' button would just be frozen as well, but I agree it seems like a good idea to have one anyway.

I managed to leave this screen with help of the lock screen:

  1. Lock screen
  2. Unlock screen to notifications view
  3. Swipe left to access the task switcher
  4. Close the settings app
