device availability in EU with a decent price tag? [not relevant]

my jolla 1 is keeping up well so far but starts showing its age. i recently used a android device and realized that it would be very hard for me to use android again.

so, is there going to be any device available in the eu? aqua fish is hard to get, at least in germany (thanks to customs..). i'd imagine the oyster phone will be hard to get too, with the weird stuff going on between russia and the eu.

just a little official statement if something is planned in the near future would be really nice. help about getting a phone would be even nicer.

I have the same problem as my Jolla 1 has now almost three years. It is still working but aging and there is no Sailfish device in the Europe that could replace it (I don't count community ports). Basically for this year Jolla sold (licenced) 20k devices with Sailfish (Aquafish). I don't think that this is enough for SW company to survive and with this approach they will be back in financial crisis soon. We only hear/read some promises like we are cooperating with this and this company but only outcome we can see now is 20k Aquafishes (btw I don't find this device attractive)..., really? They could at least shed some light on future plans. Well, is there any future for Sailfish users?

i'm also not sure if that is enough. i'd really like an official announcement. for some time i thought the information policy was getting better, it doesn't seem to have lasted tough. i'd be happy to be proven wrong. just some updates if something is in the works, etc. would be great.

otherwise i'm happy, especially with the continuing software updates, no matter how small they might be.

edit: i still think that europe (including russia) could be one of jollas biggest markets. we just need a solution to the device situation. at some point there were ideas of selling sailfish os as aftermarket option for various devices. while critics said that there is no market for that, it's something that has never been tried and seems to have a lot less risk than selling devices. i'd be happy to buy a version with android support, maybe even a subscription model for sustainability.

Th aquafish is starting to get hard to get even outside the EU. The Oyster SF might find it hard escaping Putin-Land and the turing phone seems to be firmly stuck in the vapourware phase despite assertions to the contrary from a few forumites in here.

The Swiss ebayer 'guxler' recently bought 49 aquafishes so he will be selling them for the forseeable future I would think.

There is also http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intex-Aqua-Fish-Sailfish-OS-/351900407601?hash=item51eee61731:g:t38AAOSwal5YIgqs

I have an aquafish listed on ebay Ireland myself at the minute that might go for a bit less

Thanks for the nice answers! I'll look into buying from one of these sources.

I still would like some official statement. If android apps would be supported on community ports, that would work too, but as this isn't the case at least I'm stuck with the spare official devices..

Wow, 49 phones. Why 49, why not 50? Anyways: guxler is selling aqua fishes right now, but I believe for German customers this might not help, as Switzerland is outside the EU and the phone might still not pass customs.

At least swizerland is member of the schengen agreement, that it a bit easier..

@LameDuck Maybe the 50th is for himself to keep?
