How do I manually select a mobile network?

Hi,

I have a prepaid O2 (Germany) SIM card. And since O2 merged with E-Plus a few days ago the SIM card wouldn't connect to the mobile network any more. The guy at the shop told me I have to connect to the E-Plus network now (he did it with 200 Android phones today, but was staring at my Jolla like a squirrell). The problem is that I can't select it from the list of networks (tap on 'automatically select network' in 'mobile network'), all the networks are greyed out. And that's when I looked like a squirrel.

Is there any way to select the network manually? I'm not afraid to go to a shell and do it the proper way ;)

I had the same problem once. I just had to insert my SIM in a android phone, select the network, took it back to jolla and all was working. Yes since they merged, you need login once, to activate SIM. But sadly not possible with jolla to select a network not free for this SIM

That was it! Connected to E-Plus network on an Android device and put the SIM back into Jolla: works again! Thank you!

Same here. I tried with a Samsung GT-B5722 (non-Android, semi-smart phone) first, which did connect but did NOT "fix" the SIM. Tried with an Android phone afterwards, worked as described.

It is a shame that we still can't select manually a network on the Jolla (smart)phone. I can do it with a feature phone from 2006 like Sony Ericsson K610i. Every time I pass the border between France and Germany, the Network says "permission denied" and I can't select the network manually since it is greyed out. It is a pity that we have to use another phone to select the network and everybody doesn't always have another phone with him. Currently we can't rely on a phone like Jolla so I hope it will be fixed as soon as possible.
