Hello, I recently received my Aqua Fish in the mail. Unfortunately, it came with ablack background and an empty ambience menu. I updated the phone to 2.0.5.6 and the ambiences were still missing. Is there anything I can do to restore the ambiences, or will I have to contact the seller?

I can't remeber if there were ambiences pre-installed in my Aqua Fish because I immediately converted it to Jolla C software level by following the procedure outlined here. If you don't want this, there should be the option of a factory reset.

Thanks for the answer. I will try these instructions. But how do I open the terminal in Aqua Fish? Can I use the ShellEx app from the Jolla store? The app's description says that using devel-su works when running in Fingerterm, but I am not sure what that means. I could not find Fingerterm in the app store.

You have to activate "Developer mode" from settings app, to find terminal. Ones in developer mode, you will see the terminal launcher.

I tried the instructions and after running the first line it said it could not find the installed packages. After the second line, it said it could not find any available packages.

Ok, repository/packet probably changed. Did you check if ambiences are really gone, or if they are still in file system, but just not visible in GUI? Use a file browser and check /usr/share/ambience/. There should be a number of folders, one for each ambience.

I checked and they are all there.

First you have to enable root access. Go back to Settings/Developer Tools and enable Remote Connection, note the root password or set one of your choise and save.

Start terminal and delete ambience database by entering following...

devel-su
<your root password>
rm .local/share/system/privileged/Ambienced/ambienced.sqlite*

Enter "yes" to all three questions that will come up.

Exit terminal and reboot phone to rebuild database.

Check if it's working.

You might want to disable root access when done.
