After the update (2.1.0.10 Iijoki), my phone (Jolla C) has frozen twice in a similar way.

Steps:

  1. phone in the pocket
  2. phone vibrated
  3. took my phone off pocket
  4. notification led was solid white and display was turned off
  5. double tapping touch screen wouldn't wake up the screen
  6. pressing power button wouldn't wake up the screen
  7. volume controls had no effect either

Open apps:

  • Calendar
  • Email
  • Clock

First time around I placed the phone on a table for about 2 minutes and then the screen woke up. Second time around it took around 15 minutes. After phone came out of the freeze, notification screen indicated no new phone calls, calendar events, text messages or emails.

Update: It happened again while in the car. Phone was paired with the car, but I was unable to make phone calls while phone was jammed. After 5-10 minutes, the phone rebooted itself instead of coming back to life like in the previous two cases.

Update2: Text messages and phone calls received while phone is jammed are lost. Won't appear in messages/phone app at all.

@Milo Which kind of filesystem you have? Can this be an issue of BTRFS balancing?

@alloj default is ext4?

/dev/mapper/sailfish-root on / type ext4
/dev/mapper/sailfish-home on /home type ext4

Don't seem to have any btrfs partitions

Also rootfs's disk usage is at 52 % and home's usage is at 29 %.

@Milo you should specify your sfos version. do you use stable release or early access? also, what device are you using?

@misc11, good point. 2.1.0.10 and Jolla C.

2.1.0.10 has a bug in the bluetooth status indicator that it leaks some resources when changes happen in the bluetooth connections. And that eventually leads to the UI becoming unresponsive. We have fix for this and will be rolling out another early access update on Monday 3rd of April.

If you are experiencing these freezes, please turn off bluetooth in settings and reboot the device. And report here if you still experience freezes after that.

Aquafish upgraded to 2.1.0.11 Connected this morning to car (Nissan). played audio media from Jolla media player. Stop, start next etc worked fine.

Evening back to square one, phone connects over Bluetooth. No sound can be heard from car stereo. pause , play next worked fine. restarted phone, did not solve the problem. in fact it seemed to have sent the car system into a search loop trying to connect to the phone. I have raised this as a bug already before this upgrade https://together.jolla.com/question/159398/bluetooth-sound-disappearing-while-car-navigation-makes-it-pause-and-play/

will attempt to check behavior on Jolla 1
