Jolla C: Strange OS update procedure

Hi, since the last couple of updates I am facing many times a behavior which I don't understand: Download is fine, installation is starting, and then it stops the installation with a funny message 'Sorry, OS cannot be installed' or something similar. Rebooting.

This happens multiple times. Why is that? Is not everything downloaded and ready to be installed? I can't remember this behavior in earlier releases.

Do you have enough free space on your Jolla C?

@ralfB you have patches unstalled, right?

Yes, there is enough space available. Also I don't have installed any patches. It should be fine from this regards.

I get this a lot as well on the Jolla 1. I'm 99% sure it's caused by having edited a certain system file or installed a certain package from OpenRepos way back in the days. If only I could find out what it was.

Install Sailfish Utilities from Store

Open Settings -> Utilities -> Rebuild App-Registry

Retry the update after this finishes. I had to do this multiple times back with my Jolla 1 at times.

Open App Settings, Clean Browser Cache, try again. For me that works most of the time I'm getting this unmeaning message.

Thanks for this. I am struggling find the menu for clearing the browser cache. Is it in the Settings->Utilities?

Also make sure you do not have any core files around; in case you have ever executed a ulimit -c unlimited, that is.
