Jolla1 white screen after update to

Just updated my phone which has no openrepos or other modifications and after the update was finished I was presented with a white screen. I can tell that the phone is on as double-clicking on the power button makes the phone vibrate as confirmation that screen has been locked (I think). Screen stays the same dull white all the time though.

Have never had any other update fail, what options do I have now?

I got the phone working again by chrooting into the regular fs from the recovery mode and getting the upgrade going again by doing "version --dup" (as himouto hikiomori did from SSH).

My phone was not connecting to WiFi anyway so even if I have had the remote access configured it would not have helped me much I think.

Here are some notes from what I did (click the pastebin link below), don't have time to clean it up right now. Be very careful and don't follow what I did, just use it for ideas. I may have screwed things up and I'm pretty sure I will need to reset my device soon, but that I will do when I have more time.

"Phone did not think it was updated so did the update again, was real quick but after reboot it was still showing"

In "white screen of death" mode I had a similar problem, so since I had nothing to lose I tried to roll back the update:

ssu release
version --dup

This was kinda broken so I updated again:

ssu release
version --dup

Since then everything seems to be ok for me. But I'm not sure that this will help someone else.

Jolla C, same here. "Upgrade Error, Please reboot" and white screen after reboot. Fortunately, I configured SSH (in Dev mode) before updating and after the reboot the phone was fully functional (except for the GUI). I connected via SSH from my Linux laptop and manually updated once again:

ssu release
version --dup

...and everything was fixed!

If SSH was not configured before the update, and nothing else helped, well... "Reset phone to factory settings" is the last resort:

So far I have tried mounting the fs in the recovery shell and that seems fine. If I knew how to enable developer mode from that point I may be able to do the same I guess.

If you reboot the phone, do you still get the white screen?

Yes. Nothing helps. And by the way, it's not so easy to restart the phone in the "white screen" mode. Even after "shut down" - the screen lights up bright. After connecting to the charge, the phone restarts in "charging mode" and can be rebooted (or You can pull out the battery).

P.S.My english sucks ))))
