start it as normal user from terminal, not root. a) it.works on my aqua as normal.user.. b) the.error is the one that you get, when you try to start something as root and the 'home-dir' is not set

@pawel your comment, even though not verified yet should be converted to answer as it fits the criteria

have you tried re-installing the camera app? Probably after a pkcon refresh? as user in the terminal run pkcon refresh command. After that you could re-install the camera app with pkcon install jolla-camera command

Not working anymore :

now I have :

[nemo@Sailfish ~]$ jolla-camera [D] unknown:0 - Using Wayland-EGL [W] unknown:0 - CameraBin error: "Could not initialize supporting library."

(jolla-camera:23193): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: Trying to dispose element video-encodebin, but it is in READY (locked) instead of the NULL state. You need to explicitly set elements to the NULL state before dropping the final reference, to allow them to clean up. This problem may also be caused by a refcounting bug in the application or some element.

Anybody idea ?

What worked for me i reinstall jolla camera + jolla camera settings following this good tutorial:

reboot phone and it is ok so far .....hope it helps ..

Turn on Terminal: Apps -> Settings -> Developer tools -> Developer mode ON, setup and save the password in the corresponding item

Notice: my phone's language is Russian, translations of menu items is rough (or may be rough)

Open apps, run Terminal and see CLI (command line terminal)

Type "devel-su pkcon remove jolla-camera jolla-camera-settings" and execute (press enter). After this, entering the password (installed in the first act above), confirm the removing package (type "y" and press enter) if necessary, and waiting for the end

For cheeking: type "pkcon search name camera" and press enter. In the list you'll see packages "jolla-camera" & "jolla-camera-settings" marked as "available"

Type "devel-su pkcon refresh" and press enter. After this, entering the password and waiting for the end of updating the list of packages

Type "devel-su pkcon install jolla-camera jolla-camera-settings" and press enter. Confirm installing if necessary

For cheeking: type "pkcon search name camera" and press enter. In the list you'll see packages "jolla-camera" & "jolla-camera-settings" marked as "installed"

Close the terminal, open apps menu. The camera app will be in the end of the list

Try using:

zypper se gst

And then:

zypper in -f a b c

Where a b c stand for all the packages that have 'i' next to them.

Thanks i tried :

only error is : Package 'gstreamer' is not available in your repositories. Cannot reinstall, upgrade, or downgrade.

The following packages are going to be reinstalled: gstreamer1.0 gstreamer1.0-droid gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad gstreamer1.0-plugins-base gstreamer1.0-plugins-good nemo-gstreamer1.0-interfaces nemo-qtmultimedia-plugins-gstvideotexturebackend qt5-qtmultimedia-gsttools qt5-qtmultimedia-plugin-mediaservice-gstcamerabin qt5-qtmultimedia-plugin-mediaservice-gstmediacapture qt5-qtmultimedia-plugin-mediaservice-gstmediaplayer

restart device and same problem.

front camera is working ..but not main camera - and i'am not sure it's hardware csd tool fail but is it true ..

mvdm ( 2017-07-05 12:28:51 +0300 )edit

Then it could be a hardware problem, unfortunately, and maybe the gstreamer error was unrelated.

nthn ( 2017-07-05 21:51:27 +0300 )edit

hello it's working again before and after update .........

when i start with terminal says :

[D] unknown:0 - Using Wayland-EGL

Jolla-camera:13386) Gstreamer critical registering meta implementation NemoGstBufferOrientationMeta without init function ....

Any updates to this issue ? I am also facing the same with Aqua Fish. Looked forums but nothing seems worthy. Most of them suggests this as a hardware failure. Is it ? In my case, camera flash also failed to light.

[D] unknown:0 - Using Wayland-EGL
[W] unknown:0 - CameraBin error: "Could not initialize supporting library."

this is the trace I got while opening camera app.
