I configured the email-app with a POP3 account, using SSL. I observed that occasionally, not all new messages are shown when the internet connection was lost for some time (with mail-app running). Only the latest message is downloaded. I have to keep clicking "update" until all messages are there, as they only arrive one by one - always the newest not-yet-downloaded message first. This is especially annoying when you don't know how many new messages have arrived in your offline-time.

Update: The problem also occurs if the mail app was not running while no connection was available. It seems to be more related to timeouts. The connection to the mailserver, or the mailserver itself, seems to lag quite often. It always happens when I get the message "Mail is not responding" and confirm that with "wait" (or just wait until it vanishes on its own).

Are you talking about automatically download(sync schedule) or the messages don't come when you update manually as well ?

Is this account in any big provider or your own hosted mailserver ?

It is not so that they don't come at all. Only one comes at a time. So regardless whether it is automatic sync of manually triggered, only one message is downloaded. And the next time another one. (If more than one new message is on server)

The server is that of a bigger hoster in Germany, STRATO. (so pop3.strato.de) They don't offer freemail, but I could add a temporary account for testing purposes to my package, if the developer working on this needs one.

Ok, that sounds wrong, I'm aware of several problem with gmail implementation of POP3, not recommended to use by google, but your provider seems like a regular POP3 implementation, would be helpful to debug if we could get an account, if you don't mind send details to valerio dot valerio at jolla dot com

I have the same problem with a big provider from germany whose server is sometimes pretty slow. I receive an error-message ("problem with sign it") but get the mails after 2-3 tries. Is there a way to increase the timeout to 30+ seconds?
