Headphone controls: Apple or Android?

Some headphones come with external play/pause/volume control in two different versions, one labeled Apple-compatible and one Android-compatible. Examples: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0117RFZHC/, https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-OCX-686G-Ear-Canal-Headset/dp/B00TRRTNRS. Which of the two versions works properly with a Jolla C phone?

I take it from here that support exists, but it is unclear to me which version one should get. I found some information here, but it seems confusing and I can't get a clear answer out of it.

Just get bluetooth headphones with playback controls, and you won't have to worry about what version works. Plus you won't have a stupid cord dangling around for no reason. It's like you're walking around with a 1980's Sony Walkman... The last century called, they want their technology back!

@bocephus Sure, then I'd have nothing to worry about -- apart having one more stupid gadget whose batteries I have to recharge every other day. :)

well, modern bluetooth headphones have 20-30 hours of playback, so you need to charge it just couple times per week.

I have a Bose QC25 with Android cable, and a Sennheiser PXC 550 (BT and cable). I ordered the Android version.

Both headphones can't do a lot with the android cable connection to my J1. I can stop calls with one of the buttons, that's it. I also can't use the PXCs bluetooth controls. There are a some gestures on the right pad, but only the internal controls are working. If I want control a media player, I need to touch the phone. So I can say there's not too much compatibility between J1 and android speakers.

(Nevertheless, the Sennheiser are great. You can use them several days before recharging, phone works in general, the sound is nice, the ANC ist linear and useful, the comfort is good. I love them and have them in heavy use, connected to my Jolla 1.)
