Hi! I am really interested in, and hopeful about Sailfish successfully working on the Xperia X. But then when I began looking for the device, I found out that the Single-SIM version is not sold in India. I also wrote to Sony (India) and confirmed that neither do they officially sell it in India, nor do they have any plans to do so in the future.

So I thought it'd be nice if we could all put together an alphabetically sorted list of countries stating whether or not this particular model is available. Feel free to re-format it to look better, or make other additions to make it more informative.

About the price: which one? Official one? Here in Italy the price can be very different depending on many factors.

I bought mine in Switzerland at Digitec and renewed my Swisscom contract (Natel Infinity M) for another 12 months. The Xperia X cost me Fr. 67.--.

Did you have to negotiate the discount or was it on sale for 199?

It was on sale for 199. I've seen the device in two other stores with the original price so it must be store depend.

The colors does not matter, right? It is still F5121 if it is the single SIM? So limegold would work too? I don't see it mentioned. It is a unlike color ;)

A F5121 is a F5121 which is a F5121 :)

Your personal opinion matters :)

@rfa, are those 399 Australian or US dollars? (@ced117 take note in the table, 399 AUD would be about 320 USD)

Surpringly, many have contributed to this thread... Jolla is going to sell a Sailfish OS for a dated phone, at best. All this preparation... may be for nothing in the end. Well, some days I am more optimistic. I will try to post on one of those days.

I really don't understand all this whining about the Xperia to be dated. Each and every smartphone is dated the day after its announcement, so what? The Xperia's hardware is good enough for the next years to come, and its build quality seems to be decent at least. Spare parts and repair services seem to be much easier available than for Jolla or Intex devices.

In my opinion software is much more important than the number of cpu cores, amount of memory, or display resolution. Software that is able to use the available hardware to its full potential. Let't hope Jolla manages to release Sailfish OS with full support for the phone's hardware (including the camera)!

This was written by James Noori in the comments of blog post: It was an unfortunate and unexpected event when the phone was suddenly out of production due to Sony’s change of strategy, but let’s remember, Sony has this great strategy of “one kernel rules them all” which means that when we make Xperia X work properly, making other Sony Xperia phones work with Sailfish OS is going to be the easiest thing in the world!

have 4 Sony Xperia X (F5121) in my possession. 3 Graphite Black, and one White. The model numbers vary though:

  • 1x White : SI 1302-9423 Rev 3 (Bought from NetOnNet)
  • 2x Graphite Black : SI 1302-9422 Rev 4 (Bought from NetOnNet)
  • 1x Graphite Black : SI 1302-9428 Rev 3 (Bought at a local Elkjøp store in Norway )

I have unlocked the bootloader and succesfully installed twrp and omnirom on the SI 1302-9428 Rev3 model. This model was supposed to be sold by Elkjøp with Telenor binding, but I managed to get it without as it was the last device they had.

I have xperia M5 and maybe will consider sailfish on that if it becomes available. Not going to buy a new phone just to install sailfish on that (and probably lose warranty).
