Unable to add / sync contacts since last update (Jämsänjoki)

What it says on the tin. Ever since I updated on my Jolla 2 phone, I have been unable to add contacts on the phone. Also, I have tried adding contacts over at my google account in the hope that they will appear in my list through that route, but that doesn't work either despite apparently working synchronization.

Is anyone else having the same problem (and hopefully a solution?)

Had a similar issue some time ago, see here. It seems the contact database may get corrupted sometimes.

I've had an issue with broken contacts database https://together.jolla.com/question/161068/contact-failed-detail-constraints/ Had to backup, clean and re-import the contacts, I've noted down what I did in the answer.

thanks Fenuks. Since I don't have any important contacts that aren't already synced in Google, the only relevant step there was to delete all contacts from the People app settings; unfortunately that didn't work. Seems like this will just have to wait until I have the time and motivation to do a factory reset.
