ahoy sailors.

does anyone have installed Sailfish X on a Dual Sim Xperia or Compact? I know it's not officially supported but I have two reasons to ask. 1. I have to use 2 Sim cards and I don't wanna miss that feature since I have my Jolla C. 2. since my first Jolla I was always among the first ones (tablet, C) and I also bought Sailfish X already. it's okay coz ai like to support Jolla. but I don't wanna buy a F5121 when one or two months later Salfish X is officially supported for a F5122 or it's running on it as well without any problems... I'd rather buy a dual sim version even dual sim is not yet supported than buying two phones... I hope one of you tried or will try it on his device.

thanks for your answers, comments and for sharing your experiences.

update: thanks to the community for the efforts and all the responses... I ordered a F5122 today ;)

Yes, works on F5122. With official image only 1 SIM is supported.

And per maemo talk you can do the same as for the community Sailfish X to get 2 SIM's working. Not sure which functionality you get after doing that.

To those who say the modem in F5122 is working: please confirm if it works with virtual providers as well. Thanks.

Working with MVNOs here (assuming that's what you mean by virtual provider?)

Works with community help from maemo. I will work on the SD-card/SIM-card hack to use Dualsim and SD-Card at the same time.

Here is a guide to enable Dual-SIM. Dont do it, if you dont know what you do. Its your own risk!! For me it works, but I try the new system bevore I change my main-phone to the Xperia X.

NOTE! All SFOS updates seem to negate the dual-sim hack changes, but re-do them and all should be well

That looks great, but, before my enthusiasm carries me away (i own a F5122): Do Aliendalvik and MSExchange work? :)

BlaeX ( 2017-10-12 12:08:37 +0300 )edit

Great! Besten Dank!

Just checking, do you have the 64GB version of the F5122?

Wish you lot of success with hacking the SD card access.

Yes, it would be very nice if someone could start a wiki like this one. Could you @chris_bavaria@Cube@Dreej@ehakkarainen@oenone@pakman contribute? For example are these essential?

I successfully flashed a freshly bought SailfishOS-2.1.3.7-f5121-0.0.1.18 via Windows on a F5122 (after updating Android > 34.3.A.0.228; having shut it down with sim and sdcard loaded with all interfaces on (So not in flight-mode!))

I can confirm that first sim and sdcard in second slot are working ok:

  1. A Samsung EVO Plus Micro SDXC 256 GB, Class 10 U3 formatted as ext4 gives 236.4 GB usable space.
  2. From the usable UserData from fresh installed system 1.8 GB are used 44.9 GB free; didn't try to resize it yet to the 64 GB.
  3. SystemData 1.3 GB used, 1.1GB free.
  4. Didn't try the 2-Sim-Hack, nor Bluetooth or Exchange.
  5. AlienDalvik and F-Droid install took several tries ...

Anyone who tried to get the whole 64 GB via resizeFS??

Aliendalvik works in the official build. Use not MSExchange, but appear in the account settings. Sailfish X is great and works smothly, but patches and BT have to update.

Hei,

SailfishX 2.1.4.13 partially kills the dual-SIM hack on F5122.

To be specific, it restores:

/default.prop

and

/etc/ofono/ril_subscription.conf

Just saying.

LVPVS over.

Yes. I confirm ... Update your files again .. And dual sim works again correclty. thks (Version 2.1.4.14)

Cube ( 2018-03-07 10:25:09 +0300 )edit

Mine didn't want to reboot when the a SIM was in Slot 1 and an SD card in Slot 2. I removed the SD Card, inserted the SIM in Slot 2, then Sailfish X booted. Then, I reapplied the hack and everything went back to normal. I have two SIM cards and internet sharing now.

NOTE! After upgrading to Lapuanjoki (2.1.4.14) this step gives a version error

"install jolla-settings-networking-multisim"

BUT it seems that if You allready had this package installed dual sim functionality does NOT require it to be installed again (at least in my F5122 call are coming thought on both sims)

I can confirm this in Australia. Did the multi sim mod and have made and received calls today after updating this morning. NOTE no sim in the second slot (2G doesn't exist here anymore) but no errors and still have sim cards option in Settings.

Hello everyone, I write here not to open another post. I flashed on an Xperia X F5122 and everything seems fine, however if I access the Google Play Store or Yalp Store, I do not see all the apps, for example I do not want to see an app of my mobile operator and even if I manually unload the file .pak, I can not install it: why do you think? Thanks so much! :-)

I really don't get, why guys like you always think posting a completely new question as an answer for another one is a good idea.

Armadillo ( 2018-02-05 18:42:57 +0300 )edit

In fact, I never thought of it. I said to myself: "Since the subject is akin to and coumunque I report a successful flash case on the F5122, I do not seem to open a new thread, but I will do it and if I have contravened the forum, I apologize .

Apologizing is not necessary. I just wanted to emphasize that your chance to get a helpful answer on your own question is pretty low that way. ;-)
