Harbour API Request: Archive support libraries

asked 2014-01-19 13:17:31 +0300

Some applications (like EBook reader) need libraries for archive support like zlib, bzip2 and lzma. Also KDE Frameworks 5 contains tier1 KArchive library which depends only on QtCore and low-level archive libraries and has no other dependencies.

It would be great if either low-level libraries (which present in Emulator and Phone but are not allowed to link with) or KArchive (which is not present yet) will be allowed to link with.

at least zlib is already allowed in Harbour

I'm not a coder but it seems that this restrictions+no paid apps option+no qt is keeping devs from developing for Sailfish. Jolla need to fix this asap(along with all the other to do things).

no qt, is so not correct, Qt is modular, but not all modules/parts are API/ABI stable, so we can't allow all of Qt in Harbour yet. Otherwise we run into the problem that with each Sailfish OS update applications installed from Store do not work any more.

KArchive (and all of the frameworks) have API/ABI guarantees, and plfiorini is already packaging it for mer. What is the proper way to ask to get them into sailfish?

Update: 03. March: Harbour QA accepts now submissions which depend on: libbz2 (resp. bzip2-libs)

As mentioned in several places before. Harbour QA started on 07. Jan 2015 to accept submissions which depend on:

liblzma.so.5

libz.so.1 is already since early 2014 allowed.

KArchive is currently not part of the platform. Once it is, we will review it's status.
