Edit: I reopen this bug because Sailfish forgets the APN settings which I must set manually. After that I must set them again and select the networt manually.

The manual selection of the network is only possible if you know your network - today I was in a foreign country and the Xperia turned to an tablet again. I thing because I didn't knew the righteous network and the corresponding APN settings. No phone, no mobile network! The roaming is not working.

Hello,

after booting the Xperia X with my SIM-Card I has to enter the PIN-Code. On this screen is normally on top the name of the Provider ( in my case: O2-de ). But on the Xperia X it is named "unknown". My PIN-Code is accepted, but there are no mobile services available.

When I go to settings -> PIN-Code the screen to enter the PIN-Code shows the number 26207 instead of "unknown". The Pin-Code is accepted either, but no mobile services!

With my Jolla1 the SIM-Card works fine. I have ordered an second Card. Same symptoms :(

Please Help without mobile services the XperiaX is a tablet, no mobile phone!

Sincerely, Helge

Oh no! The new SIM-Card give in the Jolla1 only phone services, no more mobile network. The "unkown"-symptom is now the same as described above for X.

This is a serious problem!

I face a similar problem (got my SIM card from Simplytel). Putting it in the Xperia I am not even asked for the pin. It is simply not working. Putting that back to the J1: Only phone services but no mobile network.

(I have a different SIM card from FONIC which works perfectly in the Xperia).

Here's my issue

Im SFOS i have never had a single SIM card in 3years with a variety of devices and SFOS versions that worked automatically, i ALWAYS had to manually configure APN settings, so the response here is figure out settings and save in Notebook so you can retrieve them while travelling.

@XFish How do you do this in a foreign country ?

In this post was mentioned that the APN settings of the german provider O2 are not correctly set in Sailfish.

Hhmm, this is my provider, too.

Hey there,

I am using o2 via third party provider Drillisch and also do have the unknown network issue. Pin is accepted but then the automatic network search spins to death. Hence I go for manual select and apply E-Plus network. Boom i am in and can use telephony. After manually adding APN LTE works too. So a bit of challenge but still open for me what to do when going to another country... That cellular stack seems to required seems to require some investigation. Not 100 % sure I am fine now.

After some voodoo like dancing around the X and spitting on the card everything works fine.

Okay, what I have done was a little different :

On Jolla1 I set mobile network by hand, not automatically . After rebooting the SIM card worked on Jolla1.

Inserting in XperiaX there was initially no change . Though I tried to set the mobile network by hand. I tried this several times with reboots. And suddenly the card was working. Don't ask me why! Cheers , Helge

Well, I tried that as well, with no success. But I try rebooting ... :(

hi krrrcks, I know it is voodoo... but have you tried the card in your Jolla1 and set the APN settings and the network manually ? With this I got the mobile network back on Jolla1.

I had the same error: "unknown" instead of "o2 de". The SIM did not register at the network. In Jolla1 the Sim was working fine. I did not try _this_ SIM card in the Xperia X, only a Telekom SIM - which was/is working. After flashing Android again, and playing a little with the network settings the o2 SIM was working in the Xperia. When installing Sailfish X again - it worked without any issue.

I got mobile data back on Jolla 1 with the help of the Ofono Log tool. But the sim cards are still not working in the Xperia.

In January the Simcard wasn't recognized anymore. Then I have reflashed with inserted Simcard - it works now.
