Could the Phone application includes a contact / people search function, without the need to switch to the People application?

In the current user interface you need to move from Phone app to the People app and select search function. It would be much easier if you could start your search direct from Phone application.

For me it's just different way to manage contacts. I had a N900 and a N9. Contact management was different between the two. So I'm not surprised. I'm getting the habit to search in contact app because you have SMS and phone history inside, it's quite efficient (IMHO).

It's already included:

  • Pull down to select "Call contact"
  • Pull down to select "Search"

Ok, that's true (my mistake, somehow I expected it to open the People app) - but why we have to pull down twise? Why search can not be opened from the first menu?

@MarkQ could you convert this to a comment (no questions included into answers, please), or write a whole new question, and accept the one answer given as correct to your earlier question.

Sorry, my mistake again. Thanks @simo

Opening the search by default would also make the keyboard cover half of the screen. Personally I haven't hundreds of contacts, so I like to simply click on a letter and then click on the wanted contact. It's possible to display the search field without focus, but doing a pull instead of clicking on a field is not very longer. But as simo said, you can ask people's opinion in a new question :)
