Hello, Jolla! Hello community!

Almost 4 weeks ago i have submited ticket request to Jolla customer service with 1 simple question about mail settings. My request was submited at November 03, 2017 23:09. Until now, there is NO ANSWER!

I have paid for smartphone, i have PAID for OS. What happening? HOW you will work with people and HOW you can promise them support for non-free software???

Same here but my question was aimed at developer care, I still have not had an answer, but I've come to expect this with Jolla - eventually, after a lot of digging around elsewhere, I answered my question myself.

they now make a blockchain phone. It will not need core features or simplest communication anymore 😉

@h.berd Jolla isn't making a blockchain phone, they're providing the base platform for someone making one. What they're actually doing now is working with different companies to get more actual devices out there and helping them make customized versions for the markets they're intended for.

@L_A_G sure, zipper wants to do it, but jolla should sort out there problems in the existing projects first. They have no time for existing users and proper software till now, maybe they should provide a proper product before starting the next project.

@h.berd Right... So you're saying that your user question is way more important than anything else they could do, including development of the OS?

Hello there,

I am not shure why jolla support is taking so long to answer. But you could try to ask the simple question about mail settings here, maybe some community-member knows the answer?

Regards Hades

I think the answer to your question from November, 4th 2017 by @bomo gives you some pointers:

"Maybe a stupid idea, but did you try appending your certificiate to /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem or the others in this folder (depending on which cert. you have)

Also have a loot at vim /usr/bin/update-ca-trust"

Functionality which is not yet included into the GUI simply needs a root shell to solve. You can't blame support for this and besides TJC is a great place to find answers from the community and Jolla staff.

If it is so easy, why technical support can not tell me the same things? Why in other OSes this functional was implemented from ancient times, but in Sailfish OS it is not? Is it very hard to make smartphone basement for over 4 years? Do you really think that mailing functionality is too much for smartphone? As for me, to move forward your own OS you shoould make phone calls, messaging and mailing functions in prior to other functionality. Look for treads in this conference. Top topics is about exchange problems! Is it funny? No! It is trouble. Big trouble. To use Saifish OS X i need my work mail! Not a mystique blockchain, but real everyday function! On my iOS device i implemented this certificate it 3 taps! 3!

Look here, please. This is my certificate http://noc.jscc.ru/certs/jscc-ca.2014.09.crt. What should i do to use it for my mail?

I never tried this and only want to help. Feel free to completely ignore me.

This file /usr/share/pki/ca-trust-source/README (do read it) suggests you copy your certificate file to the /usr/share/pki/ca-trust-source/anchors/ directory and then run 'update-ca-trust'. But only if it has PEM file format. So you might need to convert your certificate file.

If you try this and it still does not work sho the commands you tried and what the output was.

I fully agree it should be possible to be done through some settings menu thingy whatever.

Thank you very much for your help. I will try.

I'm very appreciate you for your help! But, unfortunately, same problems...

0) My Certificate was converted with https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-converter.html 1) Opened file Manager as Admin. 2) Copy my cert to /usr/share/pki/ca-trust-source/anchors/ (it was empty) 3) Connected to my phone via Putty. nemo + my pass -> devel -su + my path -> update-ca-trust

[nemo@Sailfish ~]$ devel-su Password: [root@Sailfish nemo]# update-ca-trust

4) Trying to create my account: SMTP with TLS 587, IMAP with SSL 993, Trust to certs is switched on.

The same problem - Authentication failed.

White ( 2017-12-04 12:43:07 +0300 )edit

Do you, after running update-ca-trust, see the certificate listed in the Settings|Certificates lists? I just tried it on my phone (SFOS 2.1.3.7) and I see it (JSCC Internal CA) listed in all three lists (tls, email and code signing). I don't use mail on my phone so I can't help any further I am afraid.

wdehoog ( 2017-12-04 13:12:26 +0300 )edit

Yes, i see the certificate listed. In all three lists. Tried to reboot with no result.

White ( 2017-12-04 13:25:32 +0300 )edit

You mention the result is 'Authentication failed'. The certificate you use is a ca-cert which I thought is used to verify the server (actually to verify the certificate the server sends you). 'Authentication failed' suggests the server cannot verify you. Maybe it is another kind of problem.

Guys, it is very nice to build ecosystem for blockchain. But it is very funny, that there is no chance to add mail certificate via GUI. As i understand, blockchain will work with same quality? Just got an answer from tech support. Gues, what they have answered? THEY DO NOT KNOW how to add mail certificate! They give me a link to community forum! I'm already tryied to fix my problem with community advices with no effect. And i just want to get correct instructions, how to fix my trouble manually, without GUI... somehow! I can't use my phone for work without this!

yeah, it gets more and more ridiculous... but we need a blockchain phone and if it is here the most ios and android users will shift to sailfish. The big blockchain companys then will exclusive build there apps for the already still perfect sfos, because as all of us know, the most important thing to operate a blockchain is a mobile os /s
