Xperia X boot loop when charging

If I charge my Xperia X when powered on then all works as expected. However if I power phone off and try charging this results in phone going into endless boot loop -> device unlocked warning -> white screen with Sony logo -> home screen -> phone powers itself off and repeats cycle.

Using charger that was supplied with new Xperia. No idea if this occurred with phone running original android, installed Sailfish X straight after purchase.

Yesterday I received my X, and it was still with Android. Battery was drained (a refurbished device), and when I plugged cable and tried booting, it went in bootloop. So definitely not a Jolla problem i dare say.

guyz,i think it happens when battery drained and phone is unexpectedly trying to go boot in first place. Thats Why i have tried my method it actually worked on Xperia X Perfomance When it goes to Bootloop for Drained battery, i just plug the cable and perform activity block method By pressing and holing power and both volume up and down and when it hits the 1st viberation i just simply release the key. (remember dont hold it too much long after 1st single viberation just release the keys ) and your phone will go to block activity mode. charging light will change its colors from red to blue.. it means that mobile isnt booting now but charging is in progress behind the black screen, and after 2 minutes just simply unplug the charger and plug it again. your mobile will start charging again normally.. Thank you

If it is quickcharger, then it might be due to https://together.jolla.com/question/170689/sailfish-x-quickcharge-bug/ and should be fixed in SFOS >= 2.1.4

Something like: Device gets powered on due to the charger connect and boots up to act dead mode to charge. Then, when the device switches from regular to high voltage charging, sfos mistakenly interprets that as a charger disconnect -> in act-dead charging mode this leads to shutdown -> after which the device powers up because there is a charger connected...

I was experiencing exactly the same problem: Xperia with dead battery gets in bootloop while cable plugged in, but it's not charging. The charger that doesn't work is a simple 5V 1A charger.

I just noticed that a QuickCharger actually does charge the battery, without getting stuck in the bootloop. After being charged to a few percent it is able to boot again.

I got no idea of which type the original Sony charger is, but just use a QuickCharger to charge it first.

The charger provided by Sony with the Xperia X is a 5V 1500mA one.

Pure speculation at this stage, but it might be something like combination of: a) allowing the battery to get too empty before shutting down, and b) empty battery bootup where startup activity causes high current draw which then might cause hw reboot/power off due to apparent voltage drop over battery terminals.

Filed internal ticket for this.
