Email notification showing too many emails. [answered]

Almost every time I get an email, it shows I got more than one new emails. Sometimes it just shows the one I received. Usually it just shows "2 new emails".

Recently I started to take a look at the folder list when ever I got an email. It shows unread mails in inbox and "all mail". I also use Gmail's filters quite a lot, to label my emails, so sometimes I get notifications for 3 or 4 new emails, even though it is just the same one email in all of these folders.

I understand it's good to get notifications for all folders but when it is the same email in every folder, I think it should only show one notification.

Oh, I have also received notifications for spam mail. These emails go straight into spam in Gmail, but for some reason I get notifications for these too, which of course is pretty annoying.

I had to do a factory reset to try & get my GPS working (it failed), but I didn't bother reinstalling the native email app as it lacks too much functionality (not least being able to delete emails in the app)

Outlook (android app) works fine for me

Email notifications are only triggered for emails in the inbox, moreover the app only syncs that folder automatically, if you navigate inside spam folder and then minimize the app you will get notifications since you told the app to update, nothing we can do about that, since is a user request.

Can you describe the filter that is causing issues ? thanks!

The filter only adds a label to the mail. So it goes to it's folder, but still stays in the inbox. So the filter is not the problem. And no, I have not navigated to spam folder and minimized the app and updated. Though I have navigated to the spam folder once. Does that mean it now syncs it always?

@sevanteri - No, only syncs it once. I'm unable to reproduce such problems, can you collect logs ? I needs developer mode enabled.

Can you provide the full journalctl command to get just the email app's logs? Busy weekend ahead and don't have time to figure it out myself. :)

After analysing the logs this was due to changes done by the user via command line to sync schedule settings, these changes activated a second uncontrolled scheduler that syncs all folders causing multiple notifications.
