Will the Sailfish X trial version be upgradable to future 3.x versions?
Hi sailors!
Just curious if trial versions would be supported or they are stuck as single standalone releases.
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.
Hi sailors!
Just curious if trial versions would be supported or they are stuck as single standalone releases.
For what I could gather from the Jolla websites, it would seem that the trial version can be upgraded just by buying the full license. No idea if the trial version supports OTA updates, there's no mention about that, or if you need to re-flash the device to update it.
Since the software updates "as long as device is supported" isn't included in the free trial, this could mean two things:
The Jolla Shop does state that the commercial components can be installed easily when the full version is available, so I'm guessing that since the license is linked to your Jolla Account, you just get access to the commercial parts through an update. This may or may not require a re-flash, depending on how this is done technically from Jolla's side.
You can start your Sailfish OS trial with these devices already now with the Sailfish X Free version, and purchase and install the commercial components easily later.
