Tampere

The next event in Tampere will be on 29.3., more details in answer below.

Helsinki / Espoo

The event date is still open! You can propose date & places in the the Helsinki answer.

Some details & clarification

The events above are held separately, and their date voting should happen in their respective answers.

As for the future, I suggest a "joint event" which is held on the same date in two (or more) locations, sometime around April - May, most likely on a weekend. For this event, you can vote for event date in Doodle.

Here's some activity we could do together:

  • Develop a game / app for Jolla
  • Discuss about the UX / UI / ambiences
  • Exchange ideas, more experienced users / devs could give pointers to others
  • Write Jolla development tutorials
  • Discuss / develop TOH ideas and implementations
  • Anything you suggest and others agree, we do it together!

Welcome! And have your say :)

if it is a weekend, i can probably offer hosting at AppCampus in Otanienmi :)

ymb ( 2014-01-26 11:52:44 +0300 )edit

@ymb: That would be great! I'll try to add some poll here, to vote whether we gather in Tampere or Helsinki.

Acce ( 2014-01-26 11:59:03 +0300 )edit

Do you think I should make another poll so people could vote what they wish to do at the meetup?

Acce ( 2014-01-26 12:09:23 +0300 )edit

Yes! Nice idea. How about two meetings (HKI/TRE) and then some video confress @ the end of they day to point out main things?

But please let's fix this well in advance so calendars etc. can be booked.

If we choose Tampere, I can bring my coffee maker if the facilities don't have one :)

At Devaamo we have good relations with Jolla and have organized events for Jolla in the past, like the first Hackday, also the first Jolla user meetup was organized by Devaamo, 3 days after sales launch.

tbr ( 2014-01-26 13:18:45 +0300 )edit

@tbr: Do you think someone from Jolla (dev team?) could show up at the meeting if we held it @Devaamo?

Acce ( 2014-01-26 13:22:56 +0300 )edit

@Acce I'm sure a few sailors will show up. Our event schedule starts forming and I think we should consider a Saturday in mid February for a first event. Simple meet-up/hackday, introduction to SDK/QML and then everybody can write their own small ap, also free discussions with Sailors and community.

@tbr: that would be really cool! I agree with you, but I think since we are getting together, I feel we should try to code something as a group instead of individual apps, don't you think? That would also help beginners to find ways to contribute into group-worked open source projects.

Dipoli, because I used to work there years ago :) Actually, anywhere in Otaniemi is great, would be nice to come and see how has the place changed since the times I lived and studied there..

Great, if you could get some nostalgia :)

Yes there would be some of that in the air.. I wonder if the Cantina is still there (actually it was called cosely Keltsu or Kalja Kellari back then) - oh those were the days :)

I vote for both!

What says that there could be only one meetup? I’m around Helsinki and most likely won’t be able to come to Tampere just for the meetup, maybe for people around Tampere the situation would be similar? So I wouldn’t say the meetups would exactly collide with each other (too much), and usually more people == more action.

Glad you think so! The topic has already changed to "in Tampere and Helsinki" :) And since now it seems we got already 10 to Helsinki group and 7 to Tampere and growing, we might actually get do a "combo event", maybe have an Tampere group vs. Helsinki group best app in 4 hours competition? ;)

Acce ( 2014-01-27 00:34:01 +0300 )edit

Yeah, I'm around Helsinki as well, and the train to Tampere and back is ~50€ (student price) so... bit steep
