I had to retire my old J1 due to the crappy battery and as soon as it was announced that SFO3 was available for the XA2 I duly bought one with great excitement

Its been a nightmare ever since!

The battery is only just better than the half dead on in my J1 and the damned proximity sensor is pissing me off even after the recent update

Then there's the fact that all though SF03 looks nice SF 1&2 are far better imo

Anyone know whether its possible to install an older version of SF on the Fairphone 2????

There are plenty of alternative batteries for Jolla1. ANY battery that is destined for the old HTC310 will fit your Jolla1. I have 2 x Jolla1 with 3 x Jolla batteries, 1 x Polarcell, 1 x Patona and 1 x GT Iron. Not including the Jolla batteries, the other brands have been totally reliable.

No need to downvote, people. Although this is negative and rather angry post, the points are valid, and I agree with them.

Both of the issues - prox sensor and poor battery life - are known issues and being worked on. I have to seriously look after my XA2U, but I can live with it and I'll patiently wait for the fixes.

I really hope XA2 series get proper support, and hardware support quality surpasses the Xperia X, which is/was great!

J1 was designed for SailfishOS and everything wokred there.. This is not the case anymore with the new Phones.. sadly :( Jolla sometimes has to make crappy Android drivers to work, which are really really ugly and properitary.. We really need a Phone with Hardware that has open and good drivers..

Direc, as you said, it is an angry post. That is a reason for downvoting. Even when the points are valid. Ryujollq, please consider to edit your post. It is possible to be nice and insistent at the same time.

@jayki J1 also had Android blobs, though Jolla did have an opportunity to choose hardware that's easier to get to work with SFOS. The only hope for opensource linux-native drivers seems to be on Librem 5.

Hey. I have an XA2 and i have no Problems at all... For the proximity bug there exists one simple workaround.

I use XA2 as a daily driver since 3 Month now - there are small bugs here and there - but i wouldn't say its a nightmare...

BTW: I had FP2 with SailfishOS 2.x - Port Quality was very good (Mal- is working @Jolla now), but proximity sensor was here also a big problem.

mal- is working @jolla? how nice! and what a pity at the same time, long time ago I was hoping he would get hired by Fairphone to make the port official...

I have J1, Aquafish and now XA2 ..... XA2 is crap for lack of a better word. Should we count the number of not really working sensors? Battery life on my 2y old Aquafish is 2 times better then the brand new XA2 ... WiFi power consumation is crap. Android support is not beta , it is more like POC ... Overall unusable

Buy an other battery for your jolla1.
PolarCell Akku für HTC Desire 310 is a good one
https://reviewjolla.blogspot.com/2015/09/test-compatible-batteries-for-jolla.html
https://together.jolla.com/question/65826/compatible-spare-battery/

And use it until a better update comes for your xa2.
so long, read these info and take enough time for this and think about it please:
https://jolla.com/sailfishx-linux-instructions-xa2/
https://together.jolla.com/question/198517/wiki-state-of-sailfish-x-sensors-apps-and-androidtm-support-on-sony-xa2-variants/
"IMPORTANT Do not skip this step Use your Xperia XA2 some time with Android OS. Check that phone calls can be made and received, that you can browse the Internet with a mobile data connection (turn WLAN off) and that the camera works. You might also want to check the touch display, loudspeaker and microphone.. Use the same SIM card as will be used with Sailfish X."

And clean your thread, title mismatch with the content. That's a real mess

My advice: buy an Xperia X and have fun. Everything works fine.

Well, not everything, I'd say its more like 95%. It is missing a lot of the final little details that would make it perfect. Read about it elsewhere on this forum. But for most of them there are workarounds, again to be found elsewhere on this forum. Others I can live without. I knew what I was getting into, and that I could not expect the full polish of an Android or iOS. Keeping that in mind, Xperia X is pretty amazing though - and I just love the Sailfish UI!
