I'm using an Xperia X. Since moving to a new location, I have connected to a couple of wi-fi networks successfully (Terminal shows me a valid ip address), but there is no connection to the Internet via native or Android apps. Via the Terminal app, I can ping other devices on the network. Sailfish browser, Weather and Store apps cannot connect to the Internet even though there is a valid wi-fi connection.

I have tried this with other devices (laptop, other Android device) on the same network and the Internet connection is established successfully.

I have removed the wi-fi networks from the phone (via Forgetting), and have restarted the network subsystem via Utilities several times. I have rebooted the phone. I still have the same problem.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Can anyone offer any troubleshooting options to help solve the issue? Is there a setting on the router itself, that perhaps is not compatible with our SailfishOS devices?

Read my follow-up post here.

Since I have reverted back to Sony's latest Android 8.1 Xperia X image, I have had no further Internet issues. Now, when I connect to any Wi-Fi, I have a fast and stable Internet connection. I persevered with Sailfish OS from April to June, trying over 50 different Wi-FI connections in many different locations. None of them gave an Internet connection during my stay here in Asia Pacific. I tried flashing multiple different Sailfish OS versions, to no avail.

I will consider flashing Sailfish OS again later this month before I leave Asia Pacific, as a test, just to see if the Internet connection can work before I leave, then see what happens with that resulting image when I arrive in Europe and if the result is any different.
