I installed spotify (android version) on my XA2. When I now restart my phone, after a short time, the play-buttons of spotify appear on the start screen (I have not started spotify and it is also not on the "running apps screen". Seems like there is something like an autostart?

If you open "Settings", scroll down to and open "Apps", select Spotify (or whatever icon of your android app) you can press the button "Force stop" to verify that's really that app. Also you can switch off autostart by disabling (Allow application background services to start on bootup"
Funily I was planning to write a Howto on exactly this type of problems
Spotify might auto-start on boo (as @jolljo mentions), auto-start to display some alert message, auto-start upon receiving some information from internet (like advertisement for a new album release).
DrYak ( 2019-06-06 20:16:11 +0200 )edit@raketti: I think it has more to do with modern Android having a bazillion different ways to auto-start an application. (It might get started on boot, but also to display notification, but also upon reseiving push notifications from a internet server, etc.)

But I do not unterstand "Also you can switch off autostart by
click Settings app -> scroll down to Apps -> select the app -> use the "Allow application background service to start on bootup" checkbox
(But note there's currently a bug the check box doesn't get updated on the screen, you need to jump to the app selection and back into the settings to see the new state of the check box)
DrYak ( 2019-06-07 16:52:26 +0200 )edit@DrYak, that's my assumption also, that there are just too many variables to consider and that's why the current state of the implementation is a bit of a hit and miss. Since I've noticed that some apps do respect the settings and some (for some reason) don't.
