Hi, I'm observing a strange behavior with notifications in Threema. I tested with two practically identical XA2's with SFOS 3.1.0.11 and microG (spoofing test shows green). Threema is 4.11 Build 507. While sending messages between those two XA2's sometimes there are notifications on lockscreen/homescreen with a sound, but most of the time there are no notifications, although the messages are flowing in when opening the Threema app. I tested this with the two XA2's both in the same WLAN, both not in the same WLAN, with switched on mobile data, with both mobile data and WLAN switched on, and so on... When notifications are shown then they will continue while sending some messages in series for some minutes. But after some time without messages notifications stop showing up. Of course I tried stop/start aliendalvik or even reboot the phone. I also read everything about this topic here on TJC. Now I'm out of ideas. I can't figure out what is wrong. Does anybody here know what can be done? Best regards, Uwe.

I noticed this behavior too. On WLAN it works most of the time without problems an i get messages and notifications with threema in Background, but that is not 100% constant. I noticed, that on mobile data i only receive messages when i open the app. otherwise there are no Messages or notifications…

i have polling active in Threema because i dont have microg. and push is otherwise not working.

For me, Threema works smooth. I don't have microG.

With version 4 there was an important change. GCM is no longer supported by Threema and they use Google FCM instead. This means that with aliendalvik no more push notification is possible. I have set Threema to 5 minutes pull interval. LEDs and notifications work well with the Jolla 1 and XA2.

By the way, it's never a good idea to modify the Aliendalvik and leave the specifications. A root cause is hard to find and may not have anything to do with Jolla.

Notifications do not work is the Threema app is running in foreground (i.e. maximized).

Ok, FCM - GCM. But why the notifications sometimes work (and sonteimes not). I did not change aliendalvik, just restarted it (or did you mean microG?). And of course I tested the notification with the app in foreground and background.

I'm not shure, but does somebody know if FCM is supported by microG? And if yes, what version and is it ready for SFOS3.1.0.11? Best regards, Uwe.

Notifications only works if you close Threema (see @Dakon), but Aliendalvik is a Diva and far from a final version. If you use Android apps more often, AD becomes unstable and needs to be restarted. Then the notifications will work again. That's my experience. I don't know something about the microG stuff. Google is not on my focus. Annoyances in 5 minute interval fast enough ;-)
