hi sailors,

i won't ever again write that i'm frustrated in the headline, but i am... my xa2 had no mobiledata in android apps and the support was not able to give me more than the recomendation to reflash, what i did but that problem was solved by another user : https://together.jolla.com/users/635/harry/ biggest bigup to him... now, my phone works almost like it should but still tends to freeze with yellow led blinking. sometimes i can restart it by holding volume up and power sometimes this just freezes it even more. only workaround was to open it up to disconnect the battery or wait till the battery was empty what is not too practical cause it is my main phone... now the connector of the fingerprintsensor got corrupted due to about 20 times opening... even that is no problem, i ordered a new one, but it would be so lovely to have the feeling that this could be a thing of the past... even on the xperia x my wife is still using the newest os is much less stable and crashes regulary... could someone please tell me what to do? send more logs? is there anybody who cares? im a jollaist since 2013 and right now it is really frustrating.... is there an update that makes it more stable? rn i even get loud android notifications while phone is muted what is pretty anoying... im willing to provide logs, i wanna help make it work but that community member provide more support than the support is strange... i feel like jolla just don't cares about the freaks that are willing to pay money to flash their phones by themself.... please don't let us down..

edit: was looking forward for 3.2.0.12.. but it still freezes. even more often... slightly frustrating...

I'm very sorry for you. How about to take fingerprint sensor out of order. Just playing with security code. Do you have many sfos or android apps onboard so they might consume your RAM too much? You have right, flashing is not an advice for everythong. Good luck.

it seem to be an androidapps problem... i left the back open so i can disconnect my battery easily... but like i said, even the xperia x is more buggy... and as stated: im not here to nagg, but i would love to have a usable xa2.... won't install the new fingerprintsensor before the os is running more stable... ... and notifications with sound while muted makes u socially incompatible.... ^^

My Xperia XA2 works more or less ok, still some flaws such as battery consumption doubling and staying double until I reboot or phone which does not connect automatically to the in-car Bluetooth interface, but it's definitely stabler than the Xperia X which has really serious bugs, such as network hanging with some WLANs, 4G becoming unavailable until reboot, Spotify which started to crash by itself (maybe because of the old Android version)... So you must have something wrong, maybe some specific Android app which is causing the problem. Things might improve with the coming updates.

For me the xperia x is more stable and has less bugs. In xa2 i could not find any android app that can do internet calls: Whatsapp, skype, skype for business, jitsi meet or simple SIP client ... Network (wifi or gsm) works fine so far

@toba Led blinking yellow could be DisplayResumeFailed -panic. Which basically means that an attempt to wake up display never finishes -> points towards kernel side issues -> usually one can assume that device either recovers in couple of seconds (some kind of generic slowdown generating false alarm) or not at all -> in which case a reboot is required.

Have you ever had android 9 installed on the phone? IIRC there were some xa2 display panel fw issues related to that, but they ought to have been fixed already.

Btw, there should not be a need for opening the device and detaching battery - you should be able to reboot the device by holding both power and volume up keys pressed down for about five seconds or so.

If you can reproduce it while having ssh connection to the phone, journal and possibly logcat might have some relevant information around the time when display freeze happens.

Or alternatively you could enable persistent journal to hopefully have access to logs despite needing to forcibly reboot the device.

first of all: thank you for the detailed reply... yes it my device was delivered with android 9 and i downgraded it. the forced reboot is no option in my case. it just doesn't work. i don't know when it happens, but i can try to reproduce it. i have no expierence with logcat, so any futher instructions would be highly welcomed.. beside that, it seems that the new kernel makes me more problem. it freezes now more often than before the update..

thx again

My XA2 H4113 crashed yesterday with the same symptoms. I waited until the battery was empty, powered it up again, and recovered the journal log: https://pastebin.com/UCThVd1n

Hello Toba,

I have the identical problem with one of my Xperia XA2. One is working without problem (it's a DualSim version) but the other one (SingleSIM) has the "LED-of-death" issue you already described several times. It started in May or June 2019 after one of the updates and I am not able to identify the underlying issue. I also think that the AlienDalvik (or an Android-App) is causing the freezing, therefore I already de-installed and re-installed it from the Store. But the behaviour did not change.

I almost can exclude any wrong preparation / flashing of Sailfish from my side as I did it at the same time based on the same steps with both XA2. Besides the fact that one of my XA2 (almost) always works fine, also the other XA2 worked fined until the update in May or June (probably Hossa). Since then it freezes after a few days of use. Once the freezing starts, there is either a yellow or a red blinking of the LED and the phone does not react anymore (no LED and dark screen like with power off). I can not charge it during the freezing period and it takes between a few hours and one day until the battery is completely empty. It's quite interesting that the battery drains so fast which indicates that obviously one or more processes continue to consume electricity. I then "check" regularly the status by pressing the power button. Once this is followed by two or three short blinks of the LED, I know that I can re-connect the XA2 with the charger. Then it starts to charge from 1% and I can turn on the phone again... just to wait until it freezes again.

I once tried to prevent the behaviour by shutting down the phone each day and re-start it directly afterwards. This worked probably but I am too lazy to do this every day... Also I would like to have a working phone without need for such workarounds.

@toba: Maybe it is related to a specific Andoid-App that does not like to be used on newer Sailfish updates. Maybe we can share the Android apps we are using to compare them.

@toba again: Did you try to the approach to install 'aliendalvik control' to disable SMS access to Andorid apps? This was suggested here: https://together.jolla.com/question/210639/xperia-xa2-h4113-freezes-randomly-with-yellow-led-blinking-on-31011/

Best regards, k-man

i guess it is the screen panic described above... ailendalvik control and disabling smsaccess didn't solve it. but thanks for ur input anyway... ^^
