Well, after using Sailfish OS 3.1.0.11 since its launch with the Xperia XA2 H3123, today I went back to Android :( above my resume:

1) Android support is great, almost all apps are working (if is not mandatory to use google play services to work)
2) Since 3.1.0.11, signature spoofing is include in the OS, so is very easy to enable microg.
3) Sailfish OS apps are still very poor for overall users :/ The only app that I was using daily was Depecher (Telegram client, but with a few of features that are not working, didn't miss any as I didn't used those)
4) Long time using android apps and switching with others apps (native or android), make system crash or android support crash, so you have to reboot hole system or reboot android support through terminal.
5) Google is changing a lot of things that made microg almost useless :( whatsapp didn't made backup on drive anymore, Google Maps didn't work anymore, and Safetynet is not passing, anyway... Is issue related to microg and not Sailfish but make more difficult for overall user to use it. Issue #24
6) I had a lot of problems with camera, sometimes stopped working and I had to reboot the device.
7) GPS support is not good as Android, as you have to be outside, wait almost 3 to 5 minutes to lock and make GPS working, so if you are hurry, and didn't have enabled GPS before, you have to be patiance.
8) I couldn't use my Mi Band 3, I don't know if is supported on Sailfish, but I read somewhere that Amazfit was working with an app, so... Probably more app related than to Sailfish.

I'm very happy with the improvement of the OS, as the first time I tried was with the Xperia X on 2017, but it still is not for overall users and if you want to try it, you will be have to be patiente and don't have problem rebooting, using Terminal, and looking for alternatives for common apps or services.
I'm following the progress of the OS since 2012, and I will following as I really love this OS, and will wait for the improvements and supporting as I can.

I expect you will experience 5, 6 and 7 on LineageOS too, since they are not SailfishOS issues but AOSP's.

About 6 the issue was that camera stopped working randomly, so I had to reboot and then started to work again.
5 and 7 yes... Android related but about 7 could be improved in Sailfish sometime in the future, hope so that

'8. Some one should donate Mi Band 3 to @piggz to get it supported in Amazfish ;)

I think i'm also going to try LineageOS 16 on my old X since I need to use some android software(BT SPP) like MyGreenVolt, Torque.. with BT odb dongle.

Spending 50 euros to get less features, worse 4g signal, worse camera, worse sound quality, worse battery life, standby time even half of Android P, fast power consumption and often stuck Bluetooth, very poor browser, ubiquitous stuttering, a buggy UI, and poor software. I don't know what advantages it has compared to Android. Is it to protect privacy? Yes, no software, no information will be leaked. Is it a stable update? Looking forward to the update every time, but the update did not bring any major changes.

i like my xa2 with sf: i have a console. i have control about processes. i can edit system files. restarting is fast! the world world pays ~500€ for proprietary shitdevices, why do you cry about 50€ for a non childwork os made in europe?

It's a shame to see you go. But good luck with Lineage.

On the flip side, the last release was a major release, so I'd expect a lot of bugs there, and that there will probably be some noticable improvements in the coming release, which I speculate is days away (I don't have any official word, just observations on past release timings and the recent call for translations etc).

I feel your frustrations, but I'm not ready to give up on Sailfish any time soon. In my opinion, Sailfish is way too important to phone OS diversity to give up on it yet.

In any case, good luck. Definitely say hi if you come back/want to know how it's going. It will be great to have you.

People still do not get it, that it is not about the camera or this or that. It is about freedom.

People still do not get it, that it is not mandatory to upgrade to latest and greatest immediately after release.

People still do not get it how hardware and software work together.

But people have the choice to make: be a slave or be a sailor.

As former N9 user, Sailfish is the only alternative I have - and yes some things are annoying, but I need a phone - not a computer. As long as the primary goal is working without issue, I am happy - everything else is a bonus.

Also what I do not understand is why you make so much noise about changing your mind. You were not so laud when you stepped in

Freedom has very high price!

Well, for me at least I tried a lot to use Sailfish daily, since Xperia X, and also tried on my Xperia XA2. The idea about this, is to prevent common users (like me sadly) to jump to an OS that can't fits their needs. And them see a lot of but comments and negative reviews because they don't know how difficult is to mantain a hole OS and the progress Jolla made. For me is almost usable for daily use, and the freedom factor is the first thing that made me jump to this OS and made me follow its progress since 2012 when I knew that MeeGo will live with the development of Sailfish OS and thanks to Jolla. What some sailors don't understand, is how world is so adapted to iOS and Android and how difficult is to find an alternative for apps that is only developed for those OSs. If we just want a phone with calls and SMS, well... there is a lot of feature phones out there even with some smartphone features as GPS, Maps, some social apps, etc.

@carmeloferso I can agree with you, or at least I understand what you are trying to say. But you are wrong in your judgement that we sailors don't understand how the world works. It's actually the opposite. We understand how the world works, we are mindful of others, some of us have good knowledge how tech works and what are its implications, and that's why we are here. It's a chicken and egg problem these days and it will only get worse if we don't even try to be a little strong against it. Monoculture and monopoly are just bad for everyone, both from philosophical and economical point of view.

@addydon, just said some sailors, as most that understand "common users" and their fustration of trying to leave the Android/iOS ecosystem just give a UP vote or commend supporting some views that for them are the same. I understand that is not easy for Jolla to going against big companies, but... What we can do is give feedback and supporting as we can, and as a common user I think that I've done here.

i was comming from windows phone, and this System was bugy to. The camera was good! (what are the commons between windows an a submarine... the problems will begin if you open a window.) No System is perfekt. Nobody wants to wait for updates anymore. Jolla is a little firm and does his best, i think. Nobody wants to pay for an app but all should work fine like android or ios. But the security you cant see! You cant have all. And for android: if somthing have no price- then you are there product. But when you are not happy with sailfish you havent to excuse for this.

I bought a 2nd hand Sony nex5 which is a better camera than any of those smartphone thingies out there. But then, as smartphones always have cameras, of course it would be nice to have a better one. However It's not very important.
