Since the update to 3.2.0.x (EA) I have noticed that when contacts call me the phone UI doesn't always show me their stored name and only after I hang up do I see their name in the call history.

While ringing and during the active call the UI will just show the phone number as if the person is not stored in my contacts.

I'm more then happy to try and help trouble shoot this if you tell me how.

(I have a lot of contacts stored [more then 1000], some in "full format" +countrycode-area-number and others just as area-number)

Edit: This happens for both types of numbers (+cc-ac-n and ac-n) and seems to be as pointed out in one of the comments only for the first time someone calls.

saw this once, don't have many contacts. UI was stuttering, switched off location/gps, stopped beeing stuttering. Related?? (JP1)

The same here - some names are shown and some are not. Can't guess any dependencies yet.

The same problem - rarely; both formats (+country-code-area-number or only area-number); probably only on first call.

Meanwhile, happened a few times on my JP1.

On XA2 it happened to me a few times already.

The reason this happens is because you have the caller number saved in your contacts with the country code! This is obviously a bug, because the OS cannot match the number to the international number format!

Multiple people report that it happens with either format of stored numbers, so that is not the problem.

Also having the country code stored is absolutely not wrong, it is highly recommended if you travel or have foreign contacts (and more importantly used to work just fine pre 3.1.x).

I have not noticed this happening since 3.2.x but need to double check it.

I remember haven seen that with at least one number wo country code. So, no, that not the explanation. In the release notes of 3.2.1 is a hint that it might be fixed.

With regards to the fix it sounds to me they are trying to match cc and non-cc numbers:

-[voicecall-ui] Attempt to resolve phone number to contact if no immediate match is found

@alloj Which is how it always used to work and works on other OSses too, after all on your home network even an area code may be irrelevant....

This issue seems to have been fixed in version 3.2.1.20

Please consider closing the question? (Unless the problem persists for you)

I haven't seen this after updating to 3.2.1, so looking good so far...

It's okay after upgrading to 3.2.1.20.

Haven't ran into this, and we're now at SFOS 3.3.0, so this question should be closed, right?

Direc ( 2020-05-24 23:26:26 +0300 )

Seems fine for me 2.

If this were a bug tracker that would be reasonable, since it is not and there is a lack of transparency from Jolla as to bugs fixed I leave that up to them.

FWIW I haven't noticed this happening in a while either.
