Remorse timer usability
The cross icon on the right of that timer is very confusing. It is placed next to the instruction "Tap to cancel". Surely one can guess that instruction is related to cross icon (since it is control with strongest affordance here). Yes, today I did this mistake for the first time in 4 years on SFOS but since there is no undelete tools or trash bin this single mistake costs a lot.
I agree, the new location of the X-icon is confusing and could cost the user dearly... (Ironically, the usability of the remorse timer is now more confusing than before 3.2.0.12)

To commit/accept the delete = swype timer away
Why is any other/extra button or function required?
I totally agree. It's so out of place, confusing, doesn't fit in design, and just plain ugly. This is not just opposition to change - I have fallen into that many times - but I seriously don't (I was going to write didn't, but I still get confused) know what to do the first split-seconds every time there is a remorse item.
This breaks usability and adds a possibility for data loss.
Make a visual hint instead. That should be possible.
Tanghus ( 2019-11-18 11:25:22 +0200 )editI made a patch that remove the cross icon :-) available from Web catalog in Patchmanager.
kuba77 ( 2019-11-19 00:34:22 +0200 )editWe don't need a patch. In my opinion, previous behaviour and messaging was much superior. But...
But it's good to have a patch as a workaround. Although how long will we remedy these UX failures.
addydon ( 2019-11-20 14:58:32 +0200 )editWhat? The X doesn't cancel too? smh That is utter garbage design (combined with the "tap to cancel" text). We shouldn't need a patch for it to be sane.
