Ok lets change this: my installation failed, phone's stuck, no chance to factory-reset it.

I didn't have any problems. Could you be little bit more specific?

You should always be able to factory reset from recovery menu.

I have the same problem and the recovery meny is not working/active. The terminal window works and I have asked if it´s possible to solve using "commands" in that window.

BosseBula ( 2014-01-31 22:12:30 +0300 )edit

What is not working in recovery menu? telnet command into menu or getting jolla logo to screen by pressing volume down and pressing power while inserting the battery?

rainisto ( 2014-01-31 22:30:21 +0300 )edit

Telnet ?? The recovery menu in the normal phone setting. I have tried to press volume down and power button and I get the Jolla logo. What´s the next step ??

Steps you made to reach this situation?

simo ( 2014-01-31 22:14:32 +0300 )edit

updated via WLAN. it worked nice in landscape, then powered off/on and this is what happened.

t0mps0 ( 2014-01-31 22:18:48 +0300 )edit

Powered on in which rotation angle? Was this the first screen showing up after reboot?

simo ( 2014-01-31 22:20:50 +0300 )edit

Can you list openrepo apps that you had installed on the device?

rainisto ( 2014-01-31 22:32:48 +0300 )edit

Would be interesting to know what apps you had installed, if you had edited any settings manually via Terminal and so on. Also had you persistent logs you could share would be beneficial to understand. We haven't seen this not even on the most broken bleeding edge release.

Please don't use such a dramatic title for your question. Most users seem to have had a seamless update. I tested the new update with phone, sms, mail, calendar, mediaplayer, browser, the camera too, most settings, and some native apps, and all worked fine. Tested it successfully with a few android apps as well, particularly with kindle. So, unless you can give more details (did the update went smooth without interruptions? did you have any special settings/apps/system tweaks?), your issue seems to be sadly (or thankfully) an isolated one.

Try taking off the battery for a while.

The general answer would be, users can consider the update to be safe, unless proofed otherwise. Some glitches will always appear, but that's what this forum is for.

Good luck!

I also had the same issue...you can see it here as well: https://together.jolla.com/question/21898/jolla-phone-not-working-properly-after-1038-update/#post-id-21910

Actually I was afraid this might be the situation for all users. And I'm extremely glad it isn't.

It became unusable for me, but got fixed after a factory reset. Even the edge gestures were not working! But now it's okay!

How did you manage to perform the factory reset? The settings app does not launch. Is there a terminal command to use?

MIne was fine for a couple of hours. Battery at 70% then i opened the Camera and it crashed and is now in a boot loop. The only way to turn it off is to remove the battery.

I have connected the jolla to my windows PC and powered on with the volume switch down and the screen is static with the jolla logo. Plugged in the USB but cannot telnet to the device.

Used camera without problems, also from Android app.

tace ( 2014-01-31 22:09:01 +0300 )edit

Opened camera, zoomed in and out, took a video. No problems.

simo ( 2014-01-31 22:17:27 +0300 )edit

Thanks, but any ideas how to get out of this situation. Doubt it is the camera app specifically but must be some issue?
