One question of a principle of an encryption (LUKS) [answered]
I'm very happy for an encryption option for Xperia X and XA2, too, in the following update. However this is causing me some concern, because details are not totally clear for me:
Does LUKS cause only the encryption of the data inside our smart phones? Thus an addition to a screen lock.
Or does LUKS cause encryption also in the sent messages? This should mean that the receiver of my messages should also have some encyption key also in her / his phone. Otherwise the results might be only mixed iron wire as in the recrived messages. Hope so not? This sure shall be too complicated.
I should be very grateful for some short advice on the previous.
LUKS is a way on how to encrypt the data that is written to your local storage media, i.e. your internal flash and if present & configured your sd-card. This is an extra layer when your apps access the file storage devices, i.e. when you unlock your storage device (your flash) your apps access the data in the same way as if the disk / flash wasn't encrypted. So LUKS doesn't help you protecting your data when you exchange information with external parties.
