Latest working Whatsapp version [answered]
I've been using Whatsapp android version on my xperia x for ages, but it started to complain about expiring in x days. So I decided to sideload it from my android phone.
After installing it without issues it tries to start but then complains about problem and that it needs to be re-installed with a green play store button. Of course the button asks for a store to use, if I use play store I can uninstall it, but then installing it crashes the opened play store.
Is there any solution to this problem?

Quite simple really, not everyone wants Google crap on their devices.

Are the old instructions for play store still valid if I install it again. I don't have that many android programs but of course it would help if they update without issues.
The minimal google services are enough.

@Edz I understand you.. But yours apps need the services of google to user 100%.. Block only the services how location and logins
