[BUG] Green led blinking, phone yammed [released]

After the latest OS update my phone is having performance / connection / lockup problems. The most notable issue is that the green led is blinking rapidly and the phone is not working;

unable to make calls, just says connection problems can turn screen saver off, but phone not responding to touch / cannot access but the lock screen

I noticed that the load-average was ~6 all the time before the phone became unusable.

UPDATE: When the green led is blinking, connecting through USB in developer mode is not possible. Also I think this is related to both WLAN and 2G/3G connection issues. Because for me this happens often when I leave or come back to home e.g. when the home WLAN signal appears or disappears. Btw. My phone just started ringing, but no way to answer it because only lock screen is visible (no answer the phone screen).

UPDATE2: Also battery doesn't charge, or at least there's no notification onscreen.

Same here. Sometimes green blinking, sometimes red blinking led. Phone reacting not or very slowly. Seems to me like it is connected to mobile data in 2G connection if connection is very weak.

Same here. The only one solution for me to solve this issue is to reboot my phone by removing the battery.

Yes, had that too. Freezes and only battery remove helps.

Same thing here. If i use the phone for calling and sms, it seems to work fine. Any 3g or wlan connectivity seems to cause a problem. Didn't need to take the battery off, just make the phone go screensaver mode and open the locking few times (pressed the power button a little longer than usually) lets me go to the first settings screen and shut down 3g and wlan. The connection problem icon still stays on, until i reboot the device. Yes and also the phone shows it is only connected to 2g, but the connection speeds seem to be 3g. Anyway it's pretty annoying to use.

Just wanted to report that this green led blinking issue is still present after 1.0.4.20, even though not that frequent anymore.

As I noted on another bug (https://together.jolla.com/question/26456/bug-jolla-app-icons-rearranging-by-itself/#comment-37370), it started happening to me too. I thought it depends on long running phone, at least in my experience.

The rapidly blinking led patterns (from /etc/mce/20debug-led.ini) indicate problems with display power up / power down.

The display power up/down needs co-operation from ui (lipstick). The green led pattern means ui is not responsive during display power up. And the red pattern means ui is not responsive during display power down.

If/when the ui side recovers, the blinking will cease.

Occurs all the time when Dalvik is running and RAM is high. As soon as dalvik is turned off I never experience the green flash.

I found a solution to my occasionally occuring green led blinking problem. I had also massive problems when switching from 3G to WLAN or from no reception at all back to 3G, the phone regularly ended up in spamming "Connection error" messages.

I had the whole nemo home directory mounted into my sdcard, after disabling the mount on startup and moving all files back to the internal storage the problems didn't occur any more.

I have no idea what the link between the sdcard and the connection problems was, but there is at least a correlation. Maybe this is worth a try for some.

I got the phone working! First i copied all my stuff from the phone via the usb cable(needs some expertise [some instructions can be found elsewhere on this site]). Then i reset(factory settings) my phone. After the reset i installed all the OS updates one by one before doing anything else with the phone. After all the OS updates i took the applications i need from the store. Right now it seems to be running fine. \,,/ (this worked for me, my phone was yamming only if i tried to connect it with 3G or WLAN. didn't touch those after boot up before the reset.)

Dear sciwi, I'm still looking for a "how-to" save all my stuff before a factory reset (I mean not only what can be seen from the PC while usb connected to Jolla). I guess this can be done from terminal. I'm afraid "elsewhere on this site" wasn't helpful enough to find it, even after a deep search.

I have the same issue. I'm not connected over 2G/3G and there is no SD card. I am however connected to wifi. But I don't need to remove the battery. When I just remove the other half, the phone reboots, and works again.

Seems like you're having problems with your TOH. Have you checked the logs for tohd service?

Sorry as writing this as an anwer when it's not. It's just something urgent I need someone's attention now. I can downgrade it to comment later.

My phone has ended up in a state where it constantly blinks the green led. It has now done it over half an hour. Most funny thing is that I have Cutespotify running and I can normally listen to the music which is currently playing. Does it help if I remote login to the device while it's still blinking and get some logs / app outputs, anything? I need some advice what to gather if it's helpful in any means to find out why the led is constantly blinking.

edit: can't help after all, the phone seems to not accept ssh connections while it is in the above mentioned state :(

In my case, after i upgraded to 1.0.4.20 had those issues too. Ended up resetting it and now it works much better than with the previous 'updated' version...

Luckily I've seen this only twice after latest update, where this other time only, the blinking didn't stop until I took the battery out. I would not like to reset my phone, so I hope those where the only occurrences where I'm gonna ever see this issue :/

This bug still occurs with 1.0.5.19 when I connect to WLAN in the company (infrastructure with many repeaters all over the office rooms) and leave the office without switching off WLAN. Even returning to the office causes this bug. WLAN is encrypted.
