When I connect my Jolla phone to the car's head unit (Mazda CX-5 standard media center with Bluetooth hands-free support), the battery level, whown on the head unit screen is wrong: it always shows 50% no matter what the Jolla's battery level is in reality.

When other phones (HTC Sensation/Android and iPhone 4S/iOS) are connected to the same car head unit, the battery meter shows accurate battery level.

So either Jolla does not send the actual battery level value to the head unit (and then the head unit shows some default), or Jolla sends the wrong battery level value.

I can still use the hands-free feature, alright, but the wrong battery level reading is pretty inconvenient.

I'm experiencing this bug since updating my Jolla to 2.0.4: battery is always reported as full. I suspect there's a regression in the bluetooth modules, as I've also found another bug: https://together.jolla.com/question/150736/bug-cant-transfer-audio-between-phone-and-car-kit/

Today I noticed the same problem with my Volkswagen Media Bluetooth car kit. Before the Ohijärvi update the car kit showed the battery level quite correct, but now it will stay low. Even it's in the charger and all most fully charged.

What bluetooth profile is your car's head unit using? If its not supported one, then its not a bug, but a feature request.

It supports at least SSP, HFT, PBAP, MAP, A2DP 1.0/1.2, AVRCP 1.0/1.3/1.4

Battery level is transmitted over hands-free profile (HFP) and the value range is from 0 to 5, 5 indicating full battery. How your carkit translates that to a displayed value is implementation-specific, but nevertheless the value should change as long as the carkit requests the indication.

I have tested this with my car and it's working fine. It always displays the actual charging level as far as I have seen. But I am going to check that this evening.

Funny enough, but today my car head unit has also shown the correct Jolla battery charge level. Let's wait till tomorrow, when the battery would be charged for 20% or less. I will report the outcome here.

I have checked the situation once again yesterday and this morning, and everything worked as it should. Not sure if the latest Sailfish update had to do anything with it or not, but now I cannot reproduce the bug. This ticket can be closed.
