When contacts are imported from Facebook, People makes 2 separate entries: one for Facebook and one for Facebook Chat (Telepathy). Sometimes, these don't go under the same name. Specifically, contacts with three names have two of these names under Facebook and another combination of two unde FB Chat (Telepathy). These should remain linked by default.

The situation is that Jolla does not separate them, but Facebook sends them down as two separated item. Facebook sends down a contact item and an xmpp buddy (telepathy), Jolla links them together if linking routine founds they are matching. In cases when contact has three name (John Lauri Smith) and they exists as John Smith under Facebook, but as Lauri Smith under Facebook chat, Jolla doesn't find that those are matching therefore doesn't link them, leave them separated. The same occurs for me with Google account.

However I admit that Jolla should do the linking based on better decisions. For example, matching of contacts and xmpp buddies can also be done based on the comparison of xmpp account uri and contact's email addresses, as xmpp account uri is usually an email address.

Please check also this post. It is about to list those contacts which have been linked by Jolla. https://together.jolla.com/question/27570/list-about-linked-contacts-in-people-settings/
