I have multiple email addresses and would like to select which email address to use when sending emails. One simple way to implement this would be to allow "SMTP only" mail accounts because there is already implemented possibility to select between accounts when sending email. Now I have extra accounts with invalid IMAP configuration but this causes redundant error messages when updating mails.

@penpen - Humm, but you can use the same SMTP for all accounts, if you like.

Unfortunately Generic email proved to be extremely confusing for no-techy people, so in the future the process will be more automated and would not be possible to configure invalid accounts, but ofc you can use the same SMTP for all accounts and also we'll provide a "default email" account setting.

I'm not sure I follow. I want to have different From addresses like sunset@example.com, sunrise@foobar.com. I have some of them redirected to the same mailbox and when I reply I want to select which address to use for From address in the mail. And to make things little bit more difficult: due limitations on some of the SMTP services (spam blocking/relying denied) I cannot use the same SMTP server for all of those addresses.

Example: one IMAP account with two or more email addresses to directed to it. When replying or sending a new email message I want to select which address the mail seems to be coming and due spam blockings addresses might need different SMTP servers.

I also vote for this feature. I have a catch them all mail adress: [ANYTHING]@somedomain.com All mails come to this catch them all inbox, but I want to answer them from different mailadresses like mail@somedomain.com and info@somedomain.de.

I would love this feature too, as I currently have 3 different email accounts with useless IMAP, only to add sending adresses. These accounts redirect mails to each other, and syncing them all on the phone is useless (most emails appears several times).
