I am trying to update to the latest version but the update is continuously running out of space and failing. But the thing is I have had every time more tham 1 GB of free space, even more than two but its just disappearing somewhere. seems like currently theres at least 4 GB of space mysteriously gone, I can keep deleting my own files but it seems futile.

I have no idea what to do, frustrating

I know sailfish leaves old files to waste space and doesnt uninstall/remove apps and other things properly but this is just stupid

@vasavr - Can you prove that ? :)

Do you have any kind of logging enabled ? That possible can be eating up space is directed to some file. Some space is needed to accommodate the download and perform the update actions, less than 1Gb is probably not enough...

i havent touched any logging settings. I have several GB gone after these update attempts and i have no idea how to free that space or what is even using it

@vasavr, are you using any data-heavy Android applications (like Sygic satnav which does a lot of caching and might fill up the space) To check - control the size of your /data/sdcard/ folder, which is the emulated SD-card storage of Android environment

i dont have anything taking too much space in that location.

the problem is that my device ran out of space while downloading the update resulting in a silent fail of it, but how is this possible. how does the 200mB update take several gigabytes. its like the attempts have inflated something that takes now several gigabytes and after the failed update it doesnt remove those files and theyre just somewhere wasting space. Sorry for poor spelling, but i am on mobile. i just want to update

maybe your issues are related to what's described here (basically an issue with filesystem):

The issue was with the backup feature when upgrading. I had several GB of video and the phone was trying to back them up which then resulted in running out of space.

The problem was the one described here:

https://together.jolla.com/question/6498/deleted-backup-in-settings-but-remains-in-vault-taking-space/

Even after removing all backups my device had no remaining space, as the backups didnt get removed like they should. Solved it by making another backup without Gallery checked, as that then removed the video backups.
