Calendar events that are close could be shown directly in the lock screen. This means that you don't have to make any additional actions to see where you should be at the moment. (like in a meeting). Currently there is lots of space available in the Lock screen and I think it should be used as much as possible.

It's quite disappointing that there is no calendar widget on the lock screen. In fact it's quite sad that lock screen does not support widgets and is not an open source, so we could fix that ourselfs while Jolla ignores this request. Also calendar itself is closed, so it's difficult to get the information from it about upcoming events. Double fail.
Anyway, as this should not be just a rant, I present you a hack how to achieve what we want. Sort of. I've created a daemon that takes your ambience and changes its wallpaper every time there is an update in the calendar. It writes the upcoming events directly into the wallpaper. It's not an ideal solution, but it sort of works. 
You can find everything here: http://mihlit.cz/jolla/calendarbience/ sources, rpms, ... For installation, you need ImageMagick from openrepos.
I did not put this on openrepos, as it's not thoroughly tested, so right now it's targeted for advanced users who are capable of self-service, together with usual disclaimer use at your own risk. Patches welcome ;-)
EDIT: new version 0.1.1 - fixes problem when ambience gets changed and a minor fix in systemd unit files.

Very cool! Unfortunately, the setup process is a little beyond my skills.
The Sailfish calendar is still very poor in general and unsuitable for professional use. I just don't get it.
Jolla should just open source the damn thing, if they're not going to develop it anyway!

Very good idea, and would improve the usability of the lock-screen a great deal. Adding feature-request and lock-screen tags :)

(This is why you get a SMS symbol there, but not the sender's name or the beginning of the message itself.)
So the maximum is to show that there is a pending event from the calendar and then show the event in the event view.
(Of course a third option would be to make the behaviour of the lock screen depend on whether or not the device is locked at all; I'm not sure that's woth the hassle, though)
