Jolla is overheating by itself.

Yesterday I noticed this problem couple times. I had my jolla in my hand once I got a text message. When I started reading it I got announcement that the phone is overheating and it will automatically turn off. Well I removed the battery for a while and let the phone cooldown. After a while I decided to try to turn on the phone, but this time the announcement said that I should close all apps, because the phone has started to overheat. I didnt have any apps open, no 3G nor WiFi. I only have native sailfish apps installed.

Living in Finland so the outside temperature isnt a raging firestorm and the phone hasnt been in direct contact with sunlight. I also checked the battery and it looks conpletely fine.

i notice this problem when i m using browser while the phone is connected to the ac, overheat near camera

I've had this a bunch of times as well, doing different things but never anything out of the ordinary. I doubt whether the phone is actually overheating, though, as it always felt cold (underneath TOH) at the time.

Tried doing a factory-reset? It could help.

Yes I tried and doesn't help. I've also noticed that the phone doesn't recognize the battery life anymore. The battery had ~85% left and suddenly the phone informed that the battery life is low, the % dropped from 85% to 4% until the phone shut down. I tried to restart the phone, but it didn't work before I took the battery off for a while. Well the phone started but this time the battery life was at 58% for a while, then ~30%, 10% and it turned off, even though I had it charing all the time...

Have you got the battery tested? If it's something wrong with it i mean.. Have a friend that also has a Jolla phone? And where do you live? I live in Tammisaari/Ekenäs. In case you would be really near, you could try my battery that is working just fine.

If you get overheat warning with the device and are running update5 or newer when you got that, you can check the reason for overheating from /var/log/systemboot.log file. Here is two ways to check the file:

1) Without developer mode go to store and install File Browser with that go to root -> var -> log and long press systemboot.log and select copy. Then go to home and select paste from pull menu. After this you can connect device to PC with usb and transfer the file over MTP and check the content

2) With developer mode you can just copy the file or cat the content over SSH or terminal.

This warning looks like about the following after update5:

YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS Received: device (SENSOR) temp status overheated (TEMPERATURE C) YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS Shutdown: Device overheated

I have been looking into the log and I get high temperature changes : in 6 seconds, temperature decrases from 79C to 53C. Does that look like correct behavior ?
