After the Ohijärvi update I found the mail app being buggy (unable to send mail from general mail accounts in ssl mode; not loading content anymore when opening mail from exchange server account). I could solve the mail sending issue (using port 25 w/o ssl/tls which is in itself annoying) but I couldn't do that for the exchange server account trouble. To eliminate the cumulative update (OS and mail) as source for those troubles I decided to remove all mail accounts en re-install te mail app from sratch. Using the Jolla webstore I got version 0.0.86. However, although I received an update notification, I could not in fact update. I then used the terminal for installation and updating. "pkcon install" worked like a charm for 0.0.86. To update I first tried "pkcon update" and received the following response "fatal error: There is no update candidate for jolla-email-0.086-10.23.1.jolla.armv7hl". Trying "pkcon refresh" I got "fatal error: File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'https://store-repository.jolla.com/features/latest/xt9/armv7hl/?credential=store". Now, I haven't an updated mail app. And neither can I eliminate reasons why I am not able to do load the content of my mails from the excchange server account Anybody who can help me updating the mail app? Thanks in advance for any suggestion

Next best advice: where to begin... - how did you remove the mail accounts: just in the interfaces or also deleting databases? which version was it running when you deleted them? Did you remove the mail app first? - which update was this running at the time, have you done any updates since?

Removal mail accounts: just the interface, no databases deleted. Problems with exchange server sync started after the Ohijärvi update. This included the update of the mail app to 0.1.3.2. So when deleting the mail accounts I was running Ohijärvi en mail version 0.1.3.2. No OS updates or re-installs since then, Just the mail app as described above. Do you suggest that I remove the mail app invluding the databases. And if so may I ask that you talk me through de databse removal? Thx again

Hi VeraPfundt, just so I make sure I understand everything :) You were running 1.0.3.8 (Naamankajärvi) and your exchange sync was working, and when you upgraded to 1.0.4.20 the sync stopped working. You then removed the mail app (version 0.1.3.2) and reinstalled 0.0.86 but can no longer upgrade the app due to that store error?

I don't know what the exact solution is (yet) but I do have more questions :) hopefully we'll be able to work something out without having to reset the device (I should have said clear device rather than factory reset)

So one thing I'm curious about is that the version of the mail app you had after the Ohijärvi update, according to my Jolla the exact version I'm running jolla-email-0.1.3-10.27.5.jolla.armv7hl so I don't know where 0.1.3.2 comes from (check yourself with rpm -qa | grep jolla-email in the terminal). The reason I asked when you deleted the accounts is I am not sure that deleting accounts removes the databases and if that's the case, downgrading the mail app it may not work if the database schemas changed between versions. If you remove the 0.0.86 version, do you still have files under /home/nemo/.qmf/database (if so don't delete them yet!)

Hi Steph, thx for being back so quickly! Answer to your first paragraph: you've got that almost correct. The exchange sync works to the point that mail headers and senders are synced. However, opening a specific mail, the app continuously tries loading the content but the screen stays blank. Moreover the contacts of my exchange server account are not synced anymore (I haven't mentioned that so far as I suppose it's related to the other problem and thus solved with it). My current exact version is jolla-email-0.086-10.23.1.1.jolla.armv7hl. Can't retrieve the version I have removed. So I checked the Jolla Store. You're right it is 0.1.3 w/o the "2" I added. My mistake. Found the following database files in the directory you told me to check: qmailstore.db (2.41, MiB) qmmailstore.db-wal (886.64 KiB) and qmailstore.db-shm (32.77 KiB), all three of them created (?) and last modified today. Does that clear things up?

Another thing to check: How much free space you have? what does "btrfs filesystem show" I am doing some testing here and if I remove the two mail accounts from my Jolla (one IMAP, one GMail), the database files and email contents persist on disk.

If I then remove (via the store) jolla-email the files are still there. I'm now going to delete those directories, reboot and reinstall the mail app see if that works. qmailstore.db looks too small it seems to me (mine is 23mb).

Thx a heap, Steph. In general I was able to solve most of my troubles by just nosing around and finding solutions here and on other platforms. So no need for me to add to the load of questions. This time was different., hence my question. A factory reset?? To be honest, I am nog a techie at all but a supporter of the Sailfish / Jolla project. Which means my abilities and patience in tinkering with my phone ona daily basis ar limited. Therefore I first answer your second best advice. Cheers

@VeraPfundt - Email app has almost nothing to do with exchange, the app itself does not really know if you are using a exchange account or a gmail account for example. It looks like you can't get any new content, so I recommend to remove Exchange account and also remove your device from the web interface of your Exchange account(Options->phone->SailfishOS device in the list) and then add the account again. Can you also check what version of Exhcange support you have ? Might be that you just have some downgraded version and it wont work anymore.

@steph, thanks anyway :-) @VDVsx . Removing my exchange account from the phone I did already twice . I don't quite understand what you mean by removing my phone from the web interface. I do have access to my exchange account via Novell GroupWise Web Access. That doesn't include the possibility to remove my device from the exchange account. The version of Exchange support? Do you mean at my work's network? Sorry for the dummy questions. just need some clarification to take the right steps.

VeraPfundt ( 2014-04-11 00:45:12 +0200 )edit

@VeraPfundt - Version of Exchange support installed on the device, you can check it from the Jolla store, in the "My apps" section in the pulley menu. I don't know Novell GroupWise, for normal Exchange instances is possible to remove the device pairing from the web interface, if you don't find it you might need to contact your IT department to do it for you. Anyway any of this explains why you can't upgrade the app. Can you try to install any other Jolla app from the store ? just to narrow down the problem.
