Could sailfish/apps updates be distributed using bittorrent ? [answered]
This would relieve the stress on the servers that are badly overloaded while I am writing that (and many users have issues downloading apps update/sailfish updates).

There is a security problem to that approach. When you are signalling the swarm that you want to download an update, everybody in the swarm will know that you have any vulnerabilities fixed in that specific update, unpatched, so they can target you.
Good point. Though Jolla would rarely be facing the internet directly. So it's not so much of an issue IMO (unless the vulnerability is in the bittorrent client itself).

There doesn't need to be a vulnerability in the BT client, any peer in the swarm can just attempt known attacks against any other peer in the swarm because it will know that they are online at the time.

This is no problem if the user is on wlan with unlimited data traffic, but on the mobile network it is a bad idea and may drive up costs for Jolla users. Therefore I think this is a bad idea or is at least something which should be limited to wlan or only be enabled at the users request.
