I often use the phone in Landscape mode, however, when I leave an app, the base UI does not rotate to landscape mode (app launcher, lock-screen, events screen, ambiance screens, etc). This is confusing in several cases, for example:

  • When leaving an app from landscape, starting a new app and continuing in landscape
  • As @Macilaci457 mentions, just peeking in landscape mode on to a screen oriented the other way.

I would like landscape mode for the launcher and other base screens. I am not asking for automatic landscape mode for all applications, or even all core applications, merely the launcher and the base screens.

Peaking back from a landscape app is confusing too, because the time is vertical then.

I think you missed the point. Quote from the question: "I am not asking for automatic landscape mode for all applications, or even all core applications, merely the launcher and the base screens."

I think it is too much to ask for full landscape mode support in one go, it just won't happen. But asking just for the launcher and base screens might be doable. I specifically do not ask for 100% landscape mode support.

Having said all that, if you still think it is the same question, just re-close and I will leave it closed.

You mentioned: "the base UI does not rotate to landscape mode (app launcher, lock-screen, events screen, ambiance screens, etc" which is about the whole UI, so closing again - but also in a purpose to get all the votes under one question, which benefits us all. @eric please?

I agree with @simo that this is in fact a duplicate and should be closed, cause in the description it says: "I would like to landscape mode for launcher and other base screens" and most of the Ui is mentioned there in other parts of the Q, too. The fact that this Q has so many votes, it would be really great if they could be transfered to the Q that this is a duplicate of. So repeating the wish to @eric, please ;)

OK, I suppose I am being "blind to home" in seeing this as different :-)
