Likes vs rating in Jolla store

I wonder what the 'Like' really means in the Jolla Store? I mean if you see 1-5 stars then you can immediately tell how users have liked this app if you compare with the number of ratings. Like means just that the app has been liked for whatever reason. Usually it feels like an app is liked just to tell the developer "good job" even if the app itself is more of a joke. The likes cannot be compared with other apps either because it depends on when the app was released and what other apps was available at that time.
My point is that how does the user tell if the app has got good or bad rating if the app has got let's say 61 likes? The Andoid support has got over 1200 likes. Is the Android support actually being liked that much more.
Well maybe it's just me that find this 'Like' less useful and maybe it is not meant to provide a rating by any means.
